| KMINER's Full Review: Biokleen Ammonia-Free Glass Cleaner |
Our family has been trying to find natural, non-toxic cleaners for our household. The problem is we are finding is that in going "green" we are often sacrificing "clean". Those harsher chemicals, while bad for the earth, often do a really nice job of cleaning a product. Still, we felt there had to be better alternatives out there.
After trying a few "big name" companies (both that make "green" and "non-green" lines, and those that are totally "green" but well known) we weren't pleased with glass cleaners and decided to keep looking. Our local health food store had a number of Biokleen products and we decided to purchase a few of them to try. Our 32 ounce bottle of Biokleen Ammonia-Free Glass Cleaner cost us $4.99 in the store.
About Biokleen:
"Biokleen products are concentrated in order to leave the smallest footprint on the environment. Concentrated = Fewer Fillers = Less Waste = Less Packaging = Less Energy Used in Shipping = More Value for Everyone."
About Biokleen Ammonia-Free Glass Cleaner:
"Our Glass Cleaner is not only ammonia and streak free, but it is also odorless. With vinegar power and natural soil lifters, it easily dissolves dirt, pollution, smoke, grease and more from shiny hard surfaces."
Ingredients: Hard surface surfactants from coconut and/or corn, linear alcohol from coconut, Kosher vinegar, and filtered water
Our Biokleen Ammonia-Free Glass Cleaner came in a clear 32 oz plastic spray containers with large green colored label. A lot of detailed information is packed on the label including tips for other use, directions, ingredients, cautions, and company information. The packaging is recyclable, made in the USA and they do not use animal testing or animal ingredients.
The bottle comes with a spray nozzle that has Spray, Off, and Stream options. I typically use the spray option, and the mist is wide reaching. I find it only takes a few squirts to cover an area. The entire bottle is a little heavy (well it is 32 ounces) though it is very sturdy I do really notice it as I carry it around from room to room.
We've found everything the company says about Biokleen Ammonia-Free Glass Cleaner is true. The product is clear and odorless. I have read a bunch of cleaning with vinegar, but honestly the smell of some vinegars can be so strong and noticeable that I was hesitant to just use vinegar on my own. I like how this product already has the vinegar mixed into it! It really does dry streak free and leaves a nice shine. We have a variety of surfaces we use it in including windows, the flat stovetop, TV screens, and mirrors. What makes me partial to this particular "green" glass cleaner over the others we have tried is its streak free shine on mirrors. Though we've been able to clean glass well with almost any product, streaks and "smudge" seem to always be left on our mirrors. It was noticeable to the point where my husband asked me why I was cleaning with dirty rags - and I wasn't! The gentler glass cleaners just didn't seem to leave that "squeaky clean" mirror look ... but Biokleen Ammonia-Free Glass Cleaner does! That's why it's been my cleaner of choice.
All in all we have been pleased with our purchase of Biokleen Ammonia-Free Glass Cleaner. Since it is such a large bottle we have a ways to go before we use it up, but at a price of only $5.00 a bottle, I will be certain to purchase it again!
