Very disappointed in return policy for damaged product.

I am very disappointed in Swanson. I have been a loyal customer since 2004. In my last order, I received a damaged bottle of supplements that rendered it unable to be opened and they will not exchange it because it has been 5 days over a year since purchase. I had bought 6 bottles to last 6 months but took a hiatus from this particular supplement. When I added it back to my regimen recently, I found this bottle damaged (the inner seal appears to have melted and is bubbled and burned looking). I would have to cut into the plastic with a knife or box cutter to get the to the tablets which I am unwilling to do and was shocked to hear that they will not exchange it. Further, I was told by customer service that I should have opened all the bottles upon receipt of my order to make sure none were damaged. I'm sorry, but in 5 years, I have never thought to open 15-20 bottles of vitamins for such reason. So much for standing behind their products. I am sending it back since I have no use for it, it does not expire until August 2011 and because I think quality control should inspect it but this is likely the last order I'll ever place with Swanson. They will lose a customer who spends hundreds of dollars a year and who has referred several new customers over the years over a bottle of Calcium-Magnesium with a retail value of $5.79. That just doesn't make a lot of sense.
