Scapp70's Top 50 Favorite Things To Do In Walt Disney World (50-41)Nov 20 '06 (Updated Jul 25 '09) Write an essay on this topic. The Bottom Line This is only 50 through 41, what a rip off. My family and I have been visiting the Walt Disney World Resorts for many years, getting in at least one visit in per year, but averaging a little more than that. On each visit we try to do at least one thing new that we've never done before because there's so much to see and do there. We have acquired favorites along the way, and I believe this list will represent what most of these things are. This list is our top fifty and with this first installment I've included the first ten of the fifty with the countdown starting at 50. For the other lists, click the links below 50. Eating Breakfast in Cape May Cafe. The Cape May Cafe is located in the Beach Club Resort near EPCOT. This character breakfast seems to be almost like a relative secret compared to the other "popular" breakfasts like Chef Mickey, 1900 Park Fare or O'hana who are always crowded and booked solid. You are almost guaranteed a table at some point during breakfast hours, (which is one of the places that has hours until 11am). The characters that come to your table are Goofy, Chip and Dale, and Minnie Mouse. The breakfast is buffet style, and includes scrambled eggs, scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon, sausage, Mickey waffles, biscuits, hash browns, and lots of fruits. Everything tastes great, although the breakfast sausage leaves much to be desired. I enjoy the quality of food more than places like 19000 Park Fare and definitely more than places like Restaurantosaurus, plus the Beach Club Resort has such nice grounds and a cool gift shop to go visit. 49. Watching the British Invasion in EPCOT's England pavilion is a real treat. What we have here is a quartet of mop tops playing live music of the greatest band ever - The Beatles! The band are introduced and walk out and wave (Beatles @ Shea Stadium style) and head into the gazebo where they'll play about a 20 minute set. These guys are good and they know many songs so if they play four or five times a day, you're likely to hear a completely different set each time. My favorite time to go is when the sun is ready to set; you have this incredible Floridian skies, and Beatles music that a crowd is grooving to, from very young to quite old. 48. Living With the Land in EPCOT's Land Pavilion is still surprisingly popular. You would figure that the "attraction" would grow dull over time, but the folks just keep on coming to see it, and I'm one of them. The whole ride is basically a slow boat ride through EPCOT's greenhouse where they grow their vegetables for consumption at some of their eateries. There is a guide at the bow of the boat informing the passengers of how advanced and innovative their garden methods are. It sounds dull to some, but from my perspective everyone seems to love the attraction. 47. The Train Ride around Magic Kingdom is a relaxing trip around the kingdom. Whether you are trying to get from Point A to Point B or you just want to see absolutely everything that Disney World has to offer, you will not be disappointed by this trip. The Magic Kingdom Railroad has three stops that it makes, Adventureland, Toon Town and Main Street. The red color of the train and the old time lanterns on the car's ceilings bring you back to a time long gone. It is nice to travel by daylight or the nighttime, and if it's your first time traveling on Walt Disney's train, you're in for a real treat, as they are some scenes to see behind the scenes which would remain unseen unless you see them on the railroad. 46. Journey Into Imagination with Dr. Nigel Channing and Figment is a highlight for the little ones in your party. The ride incorporated humor, vibrant colors, likeable characters and of course the exercise of the imagination. This is a slow moving car that seats a maximum of six, three per row and takes you on a five minute journey into the Imagination Institute's five labs of the human senses. While Dr Channing (portrayed by Eric Idle) attempts the series studies of our senses, the loveable pint sized purple dragon causes trouble and mischief along the way. There have been about three different versions of this ride so far, I remember liking the first version, with the Dream Finder, best. There are rumors of revamping the attraction yet again, to get it back to a closer resemblance of the first version. 45. Main Street is one of those areas of the Magic Kingdom that gets ignored by many. People seem to rush off to the big rides in Future World or Liberty Square, and miss out on the fun on Main Street. Admittedly, this is mostly made up of Disney shops selling inexpensive trinkets to extravagant Disney-related items, along with rolls of film, autograph books and free maps to the parks. But there are also the ice-cream parlors, the bakery, Main Street Bakery. One place that gets overlooked often is Exposition Hall. This is a pretty neat place to visit on Main Street. It's mainly a stop to buy your film, print out pictures and such, but as you keep on walking toward the back, you see that there are some great photo ops for you and your group. Many Disney-esque scenes are available to step into and click your camera. Some huge scenes include Steamboat Willie, Snow White, Toy Story, 101 Dalmatians and more. There's lots of fun to be had on Main Street, I wouldn't recommend spending too much time here, but a slow stroll with the family could produce magical Disney memories as well. 44. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh is probably a ride that I would not visit every trip to Disney. I went on this ride more than a dozen times, and that's good enough for me, but my five year old son still can't get enough of it and that's enough for me. Traveling through a storybook tale of Winnie the Pooh is a big thrill for my son, so then this turns it into a positive experience for me as well. So I don't lose any more of my sanity, I get our Fastpasses, and make sure the wait is no longer than 20-30 minutes because if you don't have a FASTPASS, you'll wait much much longer. 43. Food & Fun Center is the name of the arcade in the Contemporary Resort. Maybe if you you're one of the lucky ones, you are having one of those extended vacations at Walt Disney World and therefore you may have some extra time on your hands, enough to explore some of the less seen places where ever they may be. One of my favorite places to stop, even if it's just for an hour is the Fun & Food Center in the Contemporary Resort. There are plenty of video games to play, the classics and some new state of the art. Ski ball is addictingly fun, the crane machines that are impossible to win, there's virtually something there to entertain a person from 8 months to 80 years old. To tell you the truth, I never had bought anything from the "food" area because I would usually stop after breakfast, but the area is very kid friendly and this is possibly the most Disney area of the huge resort hotel area. 42. Typhoon Lagoon is the first water park I had ever experienced, and was shocked at how much fun it is. Typhoon Lagoon has some pretty intimidating water slides and also fun for even the little ones like in the Lazy River where the family can float on their tubes around the park. I love zipping down the slides that they have, but I think the huge wave pool they have is so much fun. When you swim out far enough, there's something exhilarating about almost drowning. 41. Kilimanjaro Safari is within the Animal Kingdom park of course as it is one of the highlights from the park. Animal Kingdom is not my most favorite park by far, but when and if I'm there, I very much enjoy the Safari attraction. Not only do you get to see the zebras, the lions, the elephants, the hippos, the giraffes and more fairly up close, but Disney adds a bit of adventure to the mix with a storyline of you and your crew trying to catch up and assist in the apprehension of ivory poachers. This is one of the few Disney attractions that, although it sticks to a strict route, is not attached to any track underneath, even the huge Liberty Boat in the Magic Kingdom is on a track - and it makes it somehow special in that sense as well for me. Thanks for reading, I hope you continue to count down with me. ~~~~~~~~~~Some More Disney-Related Epinions From Scapp70~~~~~~~~~~ The Music: Disney’s Music From the Park Disney’s Greatest - Volume One Disney’s Greatest - Volume Two Classic Disney Volume One Classic Disney Volume Two Classic Disney Volume Three Classic Disney Volume Four Classic Disney Volume Five Disney's Christmas Favorites Vol. 1 Mannheim Steamroller Meets the Mouse Disney: The Music Behind the Magic: 50 Songs Celebrating 50 Years of Walt Disney Records The Parks: Soarin’ Haunted Mansion Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Mickey's Backyard BBQ Families First Vacation Homes Scapp70’s 50 Favorite Things To Do In Walt Disney World (part 1) – 50 - 41 Scapp70’s 50 Favorite Things To Do In Walt Disney World (part 2) – 40 - 31 Scapp70’s 50 Favorite Things To Do In Walt Disney World (part 3) – 30 - 21 Scapp70’s 50 Favorite Things To Do In Walt Disney World (part 4) – 20 - 11 Scapp70’s 50 Favorite Things To Do In Walt Disney World (part 5) – 10 - 1 The Books: The Haunted Mansion – From the Magic Kingdom to the Movies Popping Up Around Walt Disney World The Movies Scapp70’s Top 10 Favorite Disney Animated Movies Toy Story (3-Disc Ultimate Toy Box DVD Set |
