Argumentative and Insulting Customer Service

I used the at home design service to all me to touch the materials and receive design advice before making a purchase. After the order was booked, the designer became rude and condescending, refusing to answer order status questions. The order did arrive on time, however, we discovered the designer mis-measured our 6 windows for roller shades. All the shades are too narrow. In addition, she recommended that we order the roller shades as reverse roll; however, the window casings are not deep enough for reverse roll. Nor does the material we chose have a "back side", so there is no need for a reverse roll.
Central customer service says we need to work through the designer, who takes 1.5 days (or more) to return a telephone call. She has told me that I installed the shades wrong, and insists that I cannot read the instructions, nor do I know my right from left, as I must have the window shade in the wrong window.
I told customer service I want to return the product, so now the regional manager is calling me. However, she also is refusing to admit that there is a measurement issue, stating that I did not read my order to know that the windows are slightly different. Therefore, I must have put the wrong shade in the wrong window.
Both my husband and I have Masters degrees in Engineering. I am pretty sure that we have mastered all the skills necessary here....reading instructions, reading a measuring tape (each shade is between 1/8 and 3/8 inch too narrow), and knowing our right from left.
I will not keep a product that does not fit in my windows and I will not work with a company that does not treat its customers with respect.
