Lysol Cling Toilet Bowl Cleaner is a product that I have been using, on and off, for the past 10 years. A friend who cleans homes for a living actually turned me on to it, and I really trust her advice when it comes to getting the most out of cleaners! After cleaning homes for 20 years, she knows what works and what doesn't.
Lysol Cling is (I think) one of the first products to design the bottle with an angled neck, so you can easily squirt the cleaner up and under the rim of the toilet bowl, the area that is the hardest to clean.
Lysol claims that this product not only cleans toilet bowls, but it will also deodorize and disinfect them as well. Another aspect to this cleaning product that sets it apart from others I have tried, is the thickness of the gel, this stuff is really thick, which means it sticks to the sides and top of the bowl. The "Cling" in the name is an appropriate term, as it truly does cling to a porcelain toilet bowl.
One plus for me in using Lysol Cling, is that it actually states that using this product will not harm plumbing or septic tanks. After we spent $12,000 6 years ago to replace our leech field, I learned that some cleaners actually can harm the septic system because they need bacteria to "perk" properly. (This is one reason I have resisted using antibacterial soaps, but am using them temporarily with the H1Ni virus going around). Lysol cling does not contain any phosphates, which are harmful to the environment.
I know that at the age of 53, I don't have the strength in my hands that I used to have. For some reason, I have always struggled with the cap on this bottle, but it is getting more challenging! The directions say to put the fingers on the ridges that are on the cap, and then give the cap a squeeze and turn it counterclockwise a quarter of a turn. To close the bottle after use, you again have to squeeze the cap and turn it clockwise. As much as I like this toilet bowl cleaner, I wish the cap were easier to manipulate.
The directions say to use about 1/2 cup of liquid each time you clean the toilet. While I don't measure out how much I use, I really doubt that I am using that much. I simply squirt all around the bowl, under the rim, until the entire oval bowl has been coated. As it sits, and it's supposed to sit in place for 15 minutes, it gives my bathroom a great fresh scent! I love the smell of the Spring Waterfall, it really makes my bathroom smell clean, and the scent lingers for a few hours after cleaning.
There is only one problem I have had with Lysol Cling, and that was when I had rust stains in our toilet bowl from our 25 year old well pipes being rusted out (we replaced them). I could not find any cleaner that would remove the rust ring, and Lysol was one of them that didn't work. Only a cleaner made specifically for rust stains worked. Otherwise, Lysol Cling works nicely to clean my toilet bowl, it cleans great and leaves my toilet sparkly clean and fresh, with my bathroom smelling great too.
Lysol Cling comes in three different scents: Country, Spring Waterfall, and Citrus. The plastic bottle holds 24 ounces. This product retails for around $3.00.
