I just finished getting off the phone with these completely incompetent jerks. They promised me that they had IN STOCK, a certain type of food by Pet Promise, that is going out of business in January of 2010. I told them that it was imperative that they make sure they had it in stock before ordering, and that they not tell me "yes", just to find out later that they don't REALLY have it at all. This is the case with SO MANY online suppliers right now. It is criminal. It was imperative because I have a critically ill cat that won't eat anything else. They assured me they had it so I ordered 12 cases and figured that he hopefully would be well sooner than he would get through that amount of food. So? Yep, you guessed it. Like other reviewers have said, they charged my card, shipped out late, ONE case. They never contacted me to give me a choice, to inform me that they really didn't have more than that in stock, and that they couldn't get any more from the company. No contact, period. They never even sent me an email saying the order had been made. Turns out they wrote down an incorrect email address. Do these people get anything right? They charged me 15.00 for shipping (charged me the high rate, docking me from the lower rate because the order was small now..because of THEIR mistake, making the cost of the can almost 75 cents higher than at Whole Foods market. I fought them on it, saying it was their mistake and I am losing money as it is, being out the $400.00 for two months, that they should not charge me that amount. I told them that I was a paying client, paying their salaries. They are SUPPOSED to treat the customer with respect. Right, I know.....dream on, right? Their amount of defensiveness, telling me that they couldn't have known they didn't have it, etc.., having every excuse in the book, other than just giving an apology for doing dirty business tactics. They have put me in a very stressful position with my cat. The order went out very late, that ONE case, and I have wasted weeks, trusting that the food was coming and that my cat would be ok, buying from the store in the meantime. Absolutely disgusting behavior on their part. They just basically put me through hell over the phone. I had to literally scream and yell and threaten them at the end. They even refused to tell me the exact amount they were going to refund my card, which is what the call was about IN THE FIRST PLACE! It is not my style to yell over the phone, but I have just had it with these crooks and this was a very important situation. I stressed it at the time of order. They are heartless, lying, greedy people that I term, "the walking dead." No feelings.
I just had a similar situation with the Guitar Center, telling me they had something and didn't call to tell me they weren't going to ship afterall, put me on some waiting list that could take up to TWO months. These companies lie, and ALL THE WHILE, making interest off of my (and millions of other people's money, I'm sure). Pet Food Direct is making big extra bucks this way off of collecting interest. They certainly don't send that interest back to the customer! They keep it! That adds up quickly, while I got 1/12th of my product, no apology, defensive and ELUSIVE behavior, they are making illegal money off of me. I had to literally scream at them to give me an exact amount of what my refund would EVENTUALLY be. It will take them 5 to 10 days to post my refund. WHAT??????????? And, I will be out that money, almost $400.00, for two months. Credit card policy. So.....I will be calling some lawyer friends that do investigations into situations JUST LIKE THIS, and find out how much extra profit these people make off of us poor victims, by holding onto our money as they put us through hell and lie to get an order. Credit card companies have had many class action lawsuits based on this exact behavior, as well as other companies, of course. Oldest trick in the book. Take a person's money, put it into an account, knowing you will have to refund it, and scoop off the interest it earns during that time period for the company profit. Totally illegal. I for one, am sick and tired of this type of lying, noncaring, non customer oriented service. The United States is sorely lacking in integrity at this point. Things have changed, and not for the better. These types of companies should not be allowed to be in business. A transaction should NOT be so stressful that you have to scream to be heard and to be treated with fairness.This company is the worst I have experienced so far. Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced via internet. Not only will I never shop there again, but will do everything in my power to try to get a class action lawsuit going against this company. I guarantee you, after seeing these very old reviews on here, that this company has been practicing in this way for a LONG time, and the extra money they have earned because of it, illegally, should go back to the paying customer. I would personally like to see this company taken down, out of business. They have zero ethics.
