Rainforest Cafe. The Rainforest Cafe is located in the Marketplace area in Downtown Disney. This volcano shaped restaurant draws such tremendous crowds at dinner time that the wait could be somewhere around two hours. Wouldn't you pay someone $10 to get seated in a fraction of that time even during the busiest days? Well, you can, pay the $10 fee to be a card member of the Rainforest Cafe and you will be seated ahead of all those suckers waiting for hours. Then, they give you your money back stipulating that you spend it in their merchandise store. That's my tip, the restaurant is family-oriented, and has the rainforest theme while you eat. Every half hour, the thunder and lightning crashes, the lights get dim and very bright and all of the animals (gorillas, monkeys and elephants) start going crazy. You can be eating dinner, and all of the sudden the gorilla standing next to you will start shaking the palm tree and loudly proclaim "Oo Oo (grunt) Aah Aaaaah!!" and scare the steak out of you. The ceiling is covered in greenery, there are caves and all kinds of animals hanging around. The food is OK, but fairly expensive. I used to get my favorite everytime, the Treetop Filet, a lovely juicy steak topped with a huge portobello mushroom. They did away with that though, so I'm going to have to try something new next time. The Rainforest Cafe is not Disney exclusive, but this one is the biggest and grandest one I've been to. 29. The People Mover is one of those rides that went virtually ignored by my wife and I every time we went to Disney World. Once we started going with our son, we find that he gets tuckered out pretty quickly. By accident, we found a way to still enjoy a part of Disney World, and still letting our son enjoy a nap. Once you board the slow moving ride that seats four, (and three very comfortably) you go travel through just about every part of Tomorrowland. The ride is not air-conditioned since it's outside a lot of the time, but the wind makes you very comfortable. Some of the ride does travel inside some of the other rides like Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear and around or through everything else in Tomorrowland. I timed the ride, it lasts ten minutes and if we ride the People Mover three or four times - it makes for a nice quality nap for our son and he's ready to go for another five or six hours. I guess it's become a favorite for us not just for the entertainment value, but especially for the service it personally has provided for my family. 28. Disney's Days Of Christmas is a store housed in its own building, located in Downtown Disney inside the Disney Marketplace where there are many stores with different themes that should satisfy all of your Disney needs and wants. This Christmas themed store is not open seasonally, but 365 days a year. As soon as you walk in, you instantly get that Christmas feeling. There are many different Christmas trees, a "fireplace" with a Yule log, there is a smell of cinnamon in the air, there are Disney Christmas cartoons playing on the TVs and of course - everything that you think of for sale that has that Disney/Christmas theme. Christmas Tree Ornaments makes up for the bulk of what's for sale here, but there are also Christmas books, music, foods and if you go towards the very back of the building there is another room that will personalize almost anything for you right there. Each and every trip, we make our way here and always find something new to add to our growing Disney and Christmas collection. 27. The Carousel of Progress is a favorite and hasn't grown stale even after the dozens of times that I and my family entered its doors. This is attraction has the audience(s) seated in a rotating theatre and transports you to the turn of the 20th century to about the very beginning of the 21st century, making some stops in the 20s and 50s and showcasing the new technology of the era from the typical father figure and his dog Rover. The show divides into four presentations and accented with the timeless theme song There's A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow. In 2001, there was a report from the Orlando Sentinal newspaper stating that the ride would be closing, but now almost six years later, I guess that the idea was scrapped thankfully. The ride is located in Tomorrow Land, and is probably one of my favorite attractions in this whole area. 26. Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party like the Christmas Party two months later is a limited ticketed event after hours when the Magic Kingdom closes from 7pm to midnight. I went to the Halloween Party twice so far, and had enjoyed it very much. The decorations for the party are very imaginative and as long as the kids get a good enough rest to enjoy most of the night, you'll have a great time. The music heard throughout the park is Spooky-themed, mostly from The Nightmare Before Christmas and others like Heffalumps and Woozles and so on. 25. Eating at the Cantina de San Angel is a highlight I look forward too every trip. It is right outside the big pyramid of the Mexico pavilion which houses the main restaurant San Angel Inn. This smaller restaurant is al fresco and serves more mainstream Mexican dishes such as tacos, burritos, nachos, churros, black refried beans, guacamole and also serves beer, margaritas and soft drinks. My favorite is the Tacos al Carbon which is four tortillas filled with grilled chicken, onion and peppers and salsa with the beans on the side. Of course I have to substitute the beans with fries, but this meal is very filling, reasonably priced ($7.29 for four) and so freaking delicious. So me and my wife share this meal in Disney World for under $10, you can't beat that deal. They do not offer beef tacos, only beef burritos. Last time when I was there with my brother-in-law Timmy, he was complaining to me that he wanted a beef taco, I explained to him that the people at Disney thought it was too sexual to put beef inside a taco...he didn't get my joke. 24. Wilderness Lodge is a great place to stay, but one of the great things to do when you are spending some time in WDW is to visit some of their resorts, even if you aren't staying there. The last few years we have been renting houses off of Disney property, but we still go and visit some of our favorite Disney Resort Hotels. There are plenty of things to do like eating at one of the restaurants, shopping in one of the stores (where each resort will have exclusive merchandise not found anywhere else in Disney World), or just walk the grounds. The Wilderness Lodge is breathtaking and a joy to take in. 23. Muppet Vision 3D is located in Disney's MGM Studios and it is what the title suggests, a 3-D attraction. The theater looks exactly like the theater had on the Muppet Show, and it even has those two old hecklers Statler & Waldorf in their usual seats up in the balcony. The 3-D aspect of the show is the worst that Walt Disney World has to offer, but The Muppets characters, personalities and comedy makes up for the sub par 3-D effects. 22. Peter Pan's Flight is a real treat for the younger crowd and for fans of the movie. The ride last only a few minutes, but it pretty much covers the main scenes from the Disney animated classic film. This ride does not feature any of the great Disney audio-animatronic characters, only the stiff statue-like likenesses of the cartoon characters. The right lighting and of course the music adds that Disney magic that sort of brings them to life. 21. Renting a Boat @ the Contemporary Resort can be a lot of fun. If you have a somewhat large group, you can all get into a Pontoon Boat, or a Canopy Boat. You can slowly check out all of Bay Lake, get somewhat close to the Magic Kingdom, and the other bordering Resort Hotels. If you want to have the maximum amount of fun split up the group and everyone can rent their own Sea Raycer. These little boats zip around pretty quickly and bring a smile to the face of everybody. When you learn all of the basic rules you feel more relaxed. Learn to heed the signs posted that read "No Wake, and also don't try and race or cut off the Ferry boats that are taking crowds back and forth from the Ticket Center and the Magic Kingdom - that could warrant you a scolding by the Bay Lake security...not that I speak from experience or anything.
