A month ago I received from BzzAgent a Glade Sense & Spray Automatic Spray starter kit. Glade Sense & Spray is a light sensitive room freshener spray. What comes in the starter kit Spray unit 1 refill canister in either Clean Linen, Clear Springs or Apple Cinnamon 2 AA batteries How to set up your Glade Sense & Spray The refill canister is a tiny aerosol can which gets easily inserted into the spray unit along with the batteries. The unit should then be placed in a bright location, but not in direct sunlight. The unit should also not be in a location where the sensor is blocked. It is also indicated to put the unit within 5 feet of traffic flow. You should not place it on a place where the spray can land on other objects. How does it work? When a shadow goes across the sensor on the scent unit, the air freshener will be sprayed into the air. It will then lock for the next 30 minutes and will not spray any freshener again unless you specifically push the button to release more of the scent. This is to conserve the fragrance. The scent unit has an indicator light. The light will flash every 5 seconds when it is in what I call standby mode when it is waiting to sense movement. When it senses movement and is getting ready it will display three quick flashes. When the unit is locked the light is steady. Each refill canister is designed to last approximately 30 days if it sprays ten times per day. Cost and Scents The cost for the starter kit is $8.99. The scents that come with the kit are listed above. The refills that are purchased separately are sold for $3.49. Including the scents listed, you can also find refill scents in Country Garden, Powder Fresh and Hawaiian Breeze. My Experience with the Glade Sense & Spray I received my kit with the Clear Springs scent. I though the scent was OK - it wasn't a scent I would have chosen if I had a choice. Iit somewhat reminded me of a Sweet Pea scented candle, which is not one of my preferred scents. It also had a slightly artificial odor. My husband, surprisingly, has not complained about the scent. There are other scents that appeal to me and I will probably pick up a refill in Apple Cinnamon or Powder Fresh. Assembling the scent unit was easy and it only took me a couple minutes to get it together and up on my shelf. I first put it on a built-in shelf in my living room. It was nice to have the little burst of scent every so often, but we spend the majority of our time in the living room and I thought that the unit would be spraying more than ten times per day which would use the refill. I also did not read the directions closely enough where it says that is should not be placed in an area where the spray can land on items around it. I placed mine on the middle shelf. After a few days I realized that the shelf above it was wet and dripping with the spray. Be careful where you decide to place the Sense & Spray. I decided to move it into my bathroom. I have a small bathroom, and I found the best place for me to place the unit was on top of a cabinet out of reach (I had to be sure to keep it away from the kids). Being placed that high, the sensor cannot detect movement of people, but it can sense when the bathroom light is turned on and will spray. We also have a skylight in the bathroom, so changes in sunlight can also be detected by the sensor regardless of if someone has entered the bathroom. Keeping my Glade Sense & Spray was a good choice. It kept my bathroom smelling nice and clean. Even though our bathroom is very small, the scent wasn't too overpowering. The indicator light is really not bothersome in the daytime, but definitely is noticeable at night. When I have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, I normally will just stumble through the house and into the bathroom and I don't turn the light on. Being in a tiny dark bathroom with a light that flashes every five seconds is a little annoying. When the unit is preparing to spray, it makes a sort of mechanical sound, followed by a little "ppfftt" as the fragrance is released. For the first few days, every time the unit got ready to spray the sound startled me and made me jump. My husband still jumped at the sound several weeks later. My scent canister lasted around 25 days, which falls into the suggested length of time that the refills should last. Overall Glade Sense & Spray is a quality fragrance unit that will freshen your rooms when you need it and won't waste the fragrance by freshening a room when you aren't there. Although I wasn't completely happy with the scent that came with my starter kit, I still would like to try out another scent that has greater appeal to me. I do like to have continuous fragrance in my house, but having a fragrance spray like this one works well in our bathroom.
