The Blinds.com on line web store is a pretty good place to shop. They do have their ups and downs but I have had more good experiences then bad ones so far. They also have ways to make up any flaw that they may have which I will get in to detail about below. I have shopped at the Blinds.com on line web store four times this year. I would have to say that despite some minor problems I would shop with them again. Let me give you an idea of what this site is all about.
What they sell:
The Blinds.com on line web store sells blinds and shades of all kinds and types. They have categories listed at the side on the left of the page. These all lead you to many products under the category of blind or shade type that you are looking for. There are a lot to go through so it may not be an easy choice. Many of them are very pretty and stylish too. So anyhow the full categories for blinds are skylights, arches, vertical blind alternatives, faux wood blinds, wood blinds and aluminum blinds. The shades are exterior shades, pleated shades, roller shades, solar shades, woven wood or bamboo and more. The have a plantation shutters section, valances, cornices and much more. They even offer fabric drapes.
The prices:
Some items cost more then others. You want fancy or good quality then you will have to pay for it. But they are not overly high in price at all. And some items are very cheap too. They often have sales or clearance items going on in various areas of the site as well. The shipping costs are fair as far as I can tell. I have only bought items that fit the free shipping policy so far, they do offer free shipping most times and here is how it works.
The shipping methods and charges policy is that they offer free shipping using both United Parcel Service and or FedEx within the 48 contiguous United States. This can only be done if the items that you have ordered are less than 94" wide. Anything over that shipping charges will apply to your order. They do have a shipping cost table to figure it out if you need to, or you can just find out at the check out when you check out your order.
Payment methods and options:
Considering the fact that all of the window treatments from this web site are custom made to your needs, wants and your specifications, all orders are paid for when you have placed your order. To pay you can use a Visa, a MasterCard and or and American Express card if you order right on line. They have other methods of payment making available too. You can use Cashier's checks, personal checks and money orders but they have to be mailed, received and cleared before the order will be filled for you.
I think the holding time for a personal check is the longest, you have to wait pretty much a week for clearing, not to mention the three days or so it takes to get to them. So I would say use a money order or a credit card of some form. Those are the best bet. The site is secure. They promise not to give out your third party information to anyone else. This means no risk of your credit card information getting out and no spam mail to your email address from other sites either. This is a great feature in a web site.
Ease of ordering site set up and how to place your order:
Ordering is harder then some sites. Only because it takes a while to pick out what you want. Or at least it did for me. I am very particular about what I want in my house and how I want it to look. You have to choose the blind, shade, fabric or what have you, pick the color, style pattern and more if it applies to that item. You even need to make sure you specify the size that you need. Which means you should know that before you even begin to look on the site so when you know what you want you can just put your order through right away with out stopping to check on measurements.
Placing the actual order is easy though. All you do is fill out the section of what you want and the things that I listed above. Then just check out. Enter your billing address, name, shipping address, payment type that you want to use, shipping method if you have not met the free requirement and that is it. Your done. You will get an instant invoice, or if you are using a money orde4r and ordering by mail you will get a regular one that you can print to send in with your payment.
Shipping:
The shipping time on my order was 8 days the first time, 7 the next, 2 weeks the next and 8 days the next. The two week one was the longest but the job I gave them to do was harder so it was not a big deal. I changed my order on them that was the reason for the delay, so that was an issue that I created and was not the fault of the site. The blinds and shades that I ordered all arrived in great shape and only one out of about 20 "between each order" was damaged. The blind was cracked in one area and was no good to me. One shade was missing from one other order as well.
Customer service:
Both times I had a problem with my order with the cracked blind and missing shade I had to contact the customer service. I id so by phone using the number that was on the return slip that came with my order int he box. The first time I spoke with Sarah. She was friendly and was to the point about everything. She told me that the cracked blind would be replaced right away, and in the mean time she was sending me a prepaid label to send the old on back. I did get a new bind in great shape a week later. So I was pleased.
The second time I spoke with Camile. She spoke broken English so it was very hard for me to understand her, I asked her if I could speak to some one else because I was having issues trying to understand her. I was hoping it would not offend her and it did not she gave me to another customer service rep. This time it was Helen. She was very easy to talk to. She told me that the shade should have been in the box and she is sorry for the trouble. She gave me a promise to have another shipped immediately and I got that one with in 8 days. Again the issue was resolved quickly and I had no issues. So all was well.
What I bought and how my selection was:
I bought wood blinds for my family room, a few custom blinds for my daughter and son's rooms, and four shades for various areas. Then I bought the fabric panels in many styles as well. Everything was custom made to my liking. I was pleased with the out come of each one. Everything was the right style, color and size that I had ordered. There wasn't a single flaw in anything.
My thoughts and recommendation:
The Blinds.com on line web store even sent me free samples upon request. That was why I went back to buy more. Because I got to see what certain things would be like before I went ahead with purchasing. The site allows you to learn how to measure for your window treatments right on the site. I like. that they pretty much guide you throughout the process. The Blinds.com on line web store is clear and easy to read upon. The site is easy to get around and navigate. I had no troubles finding what I wanted, the only problem was figuring out my own specific taste.
As I look around me right now at this moment I am looking at a few of the blinds that I bought from the Blinds.com on line web store, they are amazing. The perfect color, size, fit look they are exactly what I wanted. Not to many sites can please me perfectly but this one did. It didn't matter about the few issues that I had with the blind and the shade. I swept those problems under the rug, so to speak. they were not worth worrying or being upset over. The customer service was great and they resolved the problems fast and were very pleasant to deal with. I could not have asked for better experiences, so despite the few flaws. I do very much recommend the Blinds.com on line web store.
