The Bottom Line I picked films that are not particularly big block busters. Most of mine contain great dialogue and chivalry from the male characters!
1. Pride and Prejudice--The BBC version is the best with Collin Firth and Jennifer Ehle. It's about five hours long chalk full of dialogue. So plop on the couch and enjoy! 2. Ever After--Best telling of a Cinderella story that you can watch over and over again. 3. Sense and Sensibility--This is a bit boring for people who need more action. It is truly heart wrenching, but so good. It is a British film. 4. Somewhere in Time--Beautiful and heartbreaking. It is a period film with the late Christopher Reeves. This is arguably his best film. 5. Emma--Gwyneth Paltrow is fantastic in this Jane Austen film. It is both funny and serious. This is also British with great dialogue. 6. Bend it Like Beckham--This is a great cultural film, which compares the different dating rituals of two cultures. Lots of fun and action in this one! Guys seem to like this one too! 7. Last of the Mohicans--Great music and chemistry between costars. This has more action for the guys. 8. Love Actually--Hilarious tale of about 7 different love stories all happening at the same time. Brilliantly done! 9. Tristan and Isolde--The picture is beautiful along with the actors. The chemistry and story are great. The story is a little slow, but great! 10. Phantom of the Opera--The music is wonderful. The picture is stunning--along with the two male leads! Honorable Mentions 1. Shakespeare in Love 2. The Little Mermaid 3. The Notebook 4. The Lake House 5. Gidget--the first one with Sandra Dee 6. Ella Enchanted 7. Pretty Woman 8. The Quiet Man 9. The Holiday 10. Dangerous Beauty 11. Braveheart 12. Love Comes Softly |
