The Bottom Line Broadway Camera appears to offer low prices, but the camera they offered me was missing most of the usual accessories. I canceled my order!

I've been in the market for a digital camera lately, and have not bought one yet. I've now had 2 bad experiences with retailers, and I thought I'd share my second one. For my first bad experience, please see the epinion I wrote about Best Buy.
Anyway, after the experience with Best Buy, I started looking on-line. (I'm always on the look-out for a good deal.) I found Broadway Camera (bwaycamera.com) based in New York. They offered the camera on-line for $804 (nearly $200 savings from most other retailers).
After reading more and more about the camera, I decided to purchase. I called Broadway camera, after reading their website, because I had a few questions I wanted to answer before I purchased.
First of all, I was left on hold for at least 10 minutes. Every once in a while, I would hear someone pick up the phone briefly and then put me back on hold, but no one spoke to me for 10 minutes!
Finally, after giving out my phone, address, credit card number, etc., I dealt with the annoying upselling: "Do you want a case, extra memory, AC adaptor, battery?" etc.
At the end, as I was about to finish the transaction (without any upselling), the gentleman (who never gave me his name) mentioned: "You know this is a 'gray market' camera right?"
I didn't even know what that means! In case you don't know, a gray market camera is a camera that was made for sale outside of the U.S. In this case, this means that it doesn't have most of the accessories (no AC adaptor to recharge battery, smaller battery than standard, and more importantly no manufacturers warranty!).
Of course, they would be happy to add any of these items to the sale, therefore, increasing the cost of the camera.
In the end, I canceled my order and will continue to search. I don't recommend using this company and I ask all epinions members (and anyone else who reads this) to avoid Broadway camera!
