Glad I did it! (Reply to this comment)
by juliesvoyage
I am in my thirties, and for years I have suffered from heavy periods that lasted for up to seven days and were never regular. Due to blood clotting conditions, I could not be put on birth control. After reading the forums, I almost backed out of the Novasure procedure. After all, I had it done the beginning of November, AFTER I had been fitted for my wedding dress, and I feared that I would not fit into it for my end of December nuptials. However, this was one of the best surgeries that I have ever had!
The procedure was quick and easy. I had it done in the hospital and did spend the night. Recovery was longer than expected, but I also had a hymenectomy at the same time, which could explain why it took so long. However, now, I no longer have to worry about embarrassing moments since I do not know when my friend will make her monthly visit. I write this review, literally, while on vacation, and I do not have to plan vacations around guessing when it will happen. Last year, it was horrifying taking a group tour and having to stop the bus and run to a drugstore in a foreign country since it came five days earlier than expected. I did not gain weight, but I still notice PMS around the time that it would happen each month.
My theory is that lots of times, on these boards, only the bad stories are posted. So, I wanted to write something good and give a success story. I can only hope that the Novasure continues to work, because I do not want to go back to that time of the month and the fun that comes with it.

novasure (Reply to this comment)
by uknowmenow
Im so glad i stumbled on this. i was scheduled to have the procedure done last week & cancelled. I read nothing but horror stories and ill admit, it was mainly about not feeling/caring about sex anymore and nonstop bleeding.
im 42, have 2 kids & had a tubal 9 years ago. My pain and heavy bleeding began after my last child. Seems my condition is from fibroids (pills didnt help). This was one of the options given to me to help the fibroids shrink.
I may reconsider having it done now...
Thanks so much all for the posts!

my procedure (Reply to this comment)
by sassykat038
I have always had heavy periods and bad cramping but due to the fact i was severe anemic and had 4 transfusions over the past 5 years my doctor put me on birth control called jolessa so that i would only get my period once every 3 months. This seemed to only make matters worse. I bled for 33 days as soon as i started taking it and had blood clots the size of baseballs. Finally it stopped and i had a normal 7 day period when i took my last pill, then about a week later it came bk went on as befoee for a month.. i finished those pills and then was changed to another brith control by this time im bleeding for 45 days and dizzy and have no energy... I went to see my gyno and begged for a d and c, that is when i found out about novasure. After lots of tears and realizing my period wasnt going to stop i had the procedure done yesterday. I have had absolutely no pain, no discharge and no bleeding. I was still on my period when they did it.. they did find that i many fibroids which was probably the reason i was bleeding so bad to begin with.. my only concern now is that i havent had a tubal and im scared the estrogen in birth control will cause me to have my periods again does anyone know if that can happen? Also i was wondering about vaginal dryness.. can that be an issue after the procedure? So far im completely happy that i did this i feel like im getting my life back!

still no discharge of any kind!! :) i am loving this!
i am sorry for your misfortune! i too read a lot of terror stories and i almost didn't get this done, because i have other med. problems and stories like yours. i strongly think you should find another doctor! like a said after you know your facts, KNOW YOUR DOCTOR! they are good at misleading people into anything if they throw pretty words at you. i pray that you get what you need to fix this. remember you pay them, get your moneys worth. and if you can i would look up law suits and get yours! keep us posted on your status. good luck in your recovery! get a second and third opinion, find doctors who are against this procedure or that understand that everyone needs great health care and 'accidents' do happen in the medical field and are willing to work with you. find a great lawyer and get what you need to fix this!

Didn't work for me :( (Reply to this comment)
by tbriellek
I had a D&C and Novasure procedure done in the hospital a little over a month ago. Although Novasure claims it can be safely done in a doc office, my doctor assured me it was in my best interest to have it done in the hospital. I am glad because I read horror stories about the pain suffered having it done in a doc office. Anyway, I had some type of discharge for a month after the surgery. Then I got a period, which I was seriously hoping to never see again. I am 34, so I knew this was wishful thinking. What I was not expecting is to be bleeding just as bad as I ever have. The back pain that came with it was bad too. I never take drugs, and I even had to pop some motrin. I am now wishful in that hopefully this will just happen once, but I doubt that after reading so much about other women's experiences. I recently read about a condition called Adenomyosis...so maybe I have that. I have read that if you have that, the ablation will not work. Now that I am in the "unknown", I am really wishing I just sucked it up and went on dealing with the original bleeding. At least then I knew what to expect. Now I don't. Oh, and the total amount that they billed my insurance was $13,244.30. Just a fun fact. Luckily I only owe $394 of that, but I would really like to ask for a refund since the procedure may have not only been a waste of money, but a bad decision on my part.

i have finally stopped bleeding! YaY! its been a few days now, (like 5!!!) i wanted to write sooner but i wanted to make sure it was stopped, not just for day but that it had truly stopped. still no pain! my breasts are bigger (which is fine w me! i was a very small A cup and now i am a almost a B! i am glad my bras are fitting better!) and i have grown half an inch! i went to the doctor and they measured me again and i am now 5 ft and a 4 and a half inches tall! weird for me because i am 25 and should of stopped growing by now but maybe this 'problem' i was having was stopping me from growing. i don't know for sure but the timing is odd if its something else! anyone else have this?! i am still happy! thank God for GREAT doctors! :)

Period # 2 since Nova Sure (Reply to this comment)
by rlspicer
Hello all. I just wanted to update you since my nova sure in January 2012. I have had my second period since the surgery. The first day I was to start my period I had 2 speaks of brown blood. The speaks were smaller than a dime. I wore a panty liner for that day and I did not have to wear anything else for the rest of my period. I still had the bloating and swelling but that is too be expected. As of right now Nova Sure has been totally successful for me and I have no problems from the surgery itself. Right now I am so happy I am not being thrown into anemia every month, no blood clots, extra heavy pads, etc. I have regained so much energy and I am not tired at all. I actually worked on my garage all weekend when I was suppose to be on my period and usally I cannot even stay awake long enough or be without my heating pad and running back and forth to the bathroom and changing! I am not recovering from my period 2 weeks after it. But to see the full results I am ganna wait the 2 more months to see how happy I truely am! But if this is what I can expect every month from here on out I will be one happy camper!

Wish I would of never had it done (Reply to this comment)

It's so nice to read all the good comments about novasure but unfortunately for me it hasn't been very pleasant it has been a month and from the beginning I've had problems I woke up after the procedure in so much pain(It was worse then labor ). They gave me pain meds and sent me home I tried to go to sleep and I couldn't because I hurt so bad called the doctor and they told me to double my pain meds and use a heating pad neither worked. The next day started a little better then later that evening horrible pain again called the doctor on call they said to keep doing what I was doing if it didn't get better to go to the ER.Day 3 was worse then ever went to ER and they hooked me to an IV to give me more pain meds it helped somewhat . It has been a month and I'm still having cramping that will hit me all of a sudden and my back starts hurting like I'm having back labor I have also been bleeding very heavy since day 5 worse then ever before. Seen the doctor 4 days ago and she said obviously the novasure did't work for me and now I have to have hysterectomy she has done tons of these procedure's and has only had a few not work and when she did a hysterectomy on all of them she found they had adenomyosis which is exactly like endometriosis but on the inside of the uterus she believe's I have adenomyosis by all the symptoms I'm having if you have this problem novasure only irritates it making everything worse has anyone else had this problem and if so some feedback would be great!

one month after novasure (Reply to this comment)
by sjimajestic
i am still happy with my results! i am kinda sad that i am still lightly bleeding (mainly when i go pee) but they say that its normal, could take up to 3 months to stop completely. and its very, very light, i can wear one liner all day and that's all i need. i think sex is better now too! i see that some ppl posted about sex problems, i have NO complaints! i strongly believe its better now! i will continue to update everyone, the only thing i think is really important about getting this done is after you know your facts KNOW YOUR DOCTOR! i saw my doctor many times before i decided to get this done. ask if they do this often and what there success rate is! i found a female doctor who does many each week. they work for you, you pay them, get your moneys worth! be back after awhile to update! STILL THRILLED! :)

Thermachoice I guess? (Reply to this comment)
by vfrey77
So I saw my GYN this morning, and after she was done scolding me for staying away for almost five years (lol), we talked about EA and she said they offer Thermachoice instead of Novasure. Trying to find out which procedure is "better" is confusing as heck, cause people from both sides will swear that one is better, one is worse, and vice versa. Regardless, I got my blood drawn while I was in her office to check for anemia and thyroid levels, and I'll have my pelvic ultrasound next Friday 3/9/12. I hope I can find more gals to talk to about this, since I'd much rather hear from real women about their experiences than just reading some brochure that you KNOW is trying to sell you the procedure lol. I'll check in again soon!

Considering Novasure... (Reply to this comment)
by vfrey77
Hey ladies, just wanted to stop by and say that I'm seriously considering having this done. I've had heavy periods all my life (always staying close to a bathroom, constant leaks and accidents, yuck), but since I got into my 30's they've gotten worse, horrible cramps and PMS, giant nasty clots, and they used to last 3-5 days and now are more like 7-9 days and not as far apart as they used to be. I've way overdue for my normal GYN checkup (been almost 5 years) and I'm going to ask about it when I see her on Friday 3/2/12. I haven't been able to find any active forums or discussions about Novasure; this thread seems to be the most active one! If anyone knows of any boards or forums about this where I could get some more information and support, please let me know! There is so much conflicting information out there, one person says it was quick and easy, another says it was hours of torture, etc. Thanks!

5 weeks post Nova Sure (Reply to this comment)
by rlspicer
I held off a big review of Nova Sure until after my first period post the Nova Sure Procedure. First of all I have finsished all my discharge. As to my period IT WAS THE BEST PERIOD OF MY LIFE SO FAR! I don't know the day I "started" I did not have to wear any pads at all. The only reason I knew I was on my period was when I wiped after going pee. Now please know that before Nova Sure I had to wear depends because of how hard I bled. I had no blood clots, no cramps, no nauseu, no bloating and all the other stuff that goes along with my period. I didnt become anemic, I was not worn at all. I had all the energy in the world. As to the pms stuff I had tender breasts, alittle of hot and cold spells, and alittle problems with the bowl system. Other than that it was hevenly.
So as of right now I can definetley say that I am happy with Nova Sure procedure and it is a true god send for me. The procedure itself was easy and right now I am totally happy with the results.
I will continue posting becaue you will know the true results over the next 3 to 4 months! Good Lluck all and I hoe this helps!

I also have not had any children. Your doctor should be able to measure and tell if you have a small uterus. My doctor said she would not do it if I was too small as well. But that was because there is an increased risk of perforating your uterus. Luckily mine was not too small and I was able to have the proceedure done!

Novasure - uterus too small (Reply to this comment)
by cat-9002
I'm considering having this procedure done in the very near future. I have never given birth to any children. My doctor said that sometimes women who have never given birth will not have a success rate because their uterus is too small - so small the instrument will not fit inside.
I was wondering if you or anyone you know have had success with this procedure even if they have NEVER given birth. Thanks.

I'm considering having this procedure done in the very near future. I am 41 years old and have NEVER BEEN PREGNANT. My doctor said that the success rate for women who have not given birth is slimmer compared to those who have given birth. Reason the uterus is much smaller and sometimes smaller than the instrument used for the ablasion. Has anyone (non-child bearing)ever had this procedure done successfully?? Thanks.

Week after Novasure (Reply to this comment)
by vheave00
I had Adiana and Novasure done on Jan 30th of this year. Everything was great and I waited for a week to finally go back to boot camp. I've had the pinkish watery discharge since the procedure and that is no big deal. But this morning I started bleeding. Has anyone had this happen? I'm wondering if my workout caused it or is it normal? Any comments would help! Thanks

Hello, regarding getting a tubal w/novasure, that's incorrect. I suggest you see another Gyno and get a 2nd opinion.
I had my procedure done on 11/11/11 and not had any complications. My mood swings have not changed but I am happier of not having heavy periods. When I get it I can wear a pantyliner or one regular pad versus the 2 overnight pads and a tampon. I highly recommend having this done.
