...and I agree with what you say. I once asked a musician which medium he preferred, vinyl or digital and he instantly said vinyl. Because, with vinyl, we listen in analog as in life. We aren't computers. A record properly maintained will beat a CD all the time. I have my own radio show and I play as much vinyl as I can although CD's are, of course, easier. I think your essay here will educate a lot of people. Thanks.

Noah, I will get busy on the audio version...look for the MP3 on MySpace and the video on YouTube. Thanks for the good idea and the comment.

Vasilis,
Thanks for your note. The thing I think about when I look at the cover to Tapestry is...I'm not sure if I'd want my bare feet blown up to that size for all the world to see. I guess Carol didn't care about such things...
Hopefully, I didn't infer too strongly that limited content capacity = goodness. I was going more for the idea that we seem to lunge after things new and exciting and forget the perks that we're leaving behind in the dust.
As far as the few comments goes...well, it's good to know that there are at least three or four of us still breaking out the LPs every now and then. And, I suppose it's good to know that people aren't quite as easily riled up about these things as a person might think.
...appreciated your comment.

This was a wonderful review. Is there any way you can create an audio version of this for my iPod?
Peace

While I don't... (Reply to this comment)

agree with your (inferred) suggestion that most music in an LP is good as a result of its limited content capacity, your piece resonates with me. I'm surprised it didn't get more comments. Uh, maybe we're the only ones still listening to vinyl :o)

PS: Listening to Tapestry without looking at a big pic of Carole and her cat just aint the same, is it now?... And, if you can listen to Classical without holding the record sleeve in your hands (even if you're listening to a CD!) then I don't understand you too.

Great stuff (Reply to this comment)

Josh,
This was a great read. I smiled all the way through, and it's so true. I recently reintroduced myself to vinyl after a 15-year breakup. Then I took 11 CDs I don't care about, traded them in at the local record store, and went home with 5 albums I'll never grow tired of...
There is truly something magical about vinyl, and I salute you for bringing this to epinions readers' attention.
