Online shoppers:: Beware of STAPLES.com lies (Reply to this comment)

Hi All:

I am posting a letter I wrote to STAPLES, which may help everyone out there buying stuff (specially Digital Camera) from STAPLES.com. There is a reason why they give out so many coupons .. basically they do not have return customers (at least they are never getting my business) ;-)

My experience says: Never believe the "order status" on their website. It shows SHIPPED even though its not really SHIPPED ;-)

My Recommendation: Never buy digital camera from STAPLES, they do not carry the models they show as "IN STOCK", they actually ask manufacturer (CANON in my case) to directly ship it to you, and they WON'T (I repeat will not) give you a tracking number. You will wait till the shipment date only to find out that it will take another 4 weeks or so.

Hi,

I canceled this order on Jan. 10th and requested an email notification. I have not received anything and the status on this order still shows as "SHIPPED".

I request you to please cancel this order, send me an email confirmation, and return the amount to my credit card.

Here is the history on this order:
(1) Jan. 2nd -> Placed the order
(2) Jan. 3rd -> Order showed status as "SHIPPED"
(3) Jan. 4th -> I Called STAPLES because I did not
receive tracking number for my order. I was told that shipment department will look into it and I shall call back tomorrow morning.
(4) Jan. 5th -> I called STAPLES again to find out the tracking number. I was told to wait till Jan. 9th 5:00PM CST (shipment delivery date). It did not make any sense why STAPLES could not give me the tracking number but I thought STAPLES is a reputed company and they would not lie to me.
(5) Jan. 9th -> I called STAPLES again and CS rep was unable to provide me any information, so I
asked for her supervisor. He (the supervisor) told me that he will talk to his "shipping department" and he will call me back tomorrow with more information.
(6) Jan. 10th -> I got a voice mail on my phone saying that my order was NEVER shipped, and it will be delayed till Jan. 31st.
(7) Jan, 10th -> I called STAPLES to cancel my order, and repeatedly asked the CS rep to send me an email confirmation about the cancellation.
(8) Jan. 14th -> I DID NOT receive any email, the
order still shows as SHIPPED on my STAPLES online
account. STAPLES charged me for this order before
shipping the product (which is against the policy, I think).

If I do not receive a notification from STAPLES for next 48 hours (till 10:15PM Jan. 16th) I WILL DISPUTE the charges on my Amex.

Thank you & I swear never to do business with STAPLES.
