Hey ya T,
You've been busy reading! :o) I'm very flattered. Thanks!
Oy, I meant to do the ensembles shorty after the duets but kept getting distracted (and kept adding more pieces so that the list is now preposterously long!). Will try to post one soon, tho. Thanks for the reminder, matie!!
Hope folks like Mozart... there're gonna be loads from his stuff..and the bel canto trio (Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti), too. Those guys really knew how to do ensemble pieces.
Cheers,
Smorg :o)

Oooh, wonderful survey here! A few I'm now familiar with, but many not so, and those I know have different singers mostly.
Don't know if you've written it up yet, but a piece on wonderful ensembles (terzettos, etc) would be good, too!
Thanks, smorgy, for all these!

Hi Matt,
Thanks a bunch for stopping by and for the great suggestion on the Falstaff nonet, too! I hadn't heard that work in so long I had practically forgotten it. Will be having a great time listening to it again this week. :o)
It's neat that you got to sing it in college (?)! These opera singers sure make them sound a lot easier to pull off than it really is, don't they?
It's always cool hearing from other music lovers! Thanks again.
Cheers,
Smorg :o)

I just left a message in your article about the greatest operatic arias for males, telling you to mention the Pearl Fishers duet! D'oh! Another great, informative article.
If you're doing an article on ensembles, you should check out Verdi's Falstaff. There's a ridiculous number in there which involves 5 men singing in straight sixteenths in four/four against 4 ladies singing in triplets in a six/eight feel...all at a breakneck pace, AND each voice on an unrelated line of text! A nightmare to put together, let me tell you!

Hey Stephen,
Whoa! I haven't heard 'William Tell' yet, to tell the truth. Meant to but kept getting side-tracked into other stuff. Now I've gotta explore it. Neat pick for 'Mefistofele', too!
Thanks for stopping by and for the excellent suggestions. :o)

I'm looking forward to ensembles greatest hits (Reply to this comment)
by Stephen_Murray, in Music
which had better include the finales of "William Tell" and "Mefistfole" as well as the obvious "Cosi" one :)

You're actually making me print out this review so I can actually check out the music. Devious, you are.

Hi Telynor,
Thanks very much for your kind words! :o)
I bet you've heard most of it before. I think I'll try for the ensembles next. Any suggestions?

Yet another great list of stuff to listen to. You have no idea how much I appreciate your listings of some pretty great opera. Thanks. -- Telynor
