Update on me!

Jan 28 '07

The Bottom Line It's great!

Hi all,

I haven't written here in a long while. I've been busy moving from Switzerland to Scotland.

Now, I live in a house by the sea. Sounds great, but the water is bloody cold and the beach is all rocks. However I have a gorgeous view of the Firth of Forth. The shore is full of life. All kinds of sea birds live here and we have even seen a seal. The rocky beaches provide a home for many kinds of animals and we have a great time rock pooling.

The cold water of the North Sea and the rocky beach mean we can't swim but we still enjoy it.

My bookworm attends the public school and boy is it different. She wears a blue and grey uniform and is in a mixed class from P5 to P7. I

It's a small village school and children attend from three different villages.

The village we live in has about 200 people, a pub and very nice hotel. I will do an epinion on this hotel, soon.

We've lost three of our cats. Pele died almost 2 years ago. He was only 12 years old and we still miss him. He was a very special cat. We also lost Bootsie and Esther. Bootsie was a cat we left with my daughter in the states. Esther was my girl. She was a tiny cat with big attitude! Tortie cats are usually like that. She died in August of this year, right before we moved. I miss this mouthy, cheeky little cat.

We now are done to 4 cats. Bungee, a fluffy grey fellow, is very mellow and loves everyone. He gives the best kisses and cuddles.

Katie Cat is our oldest at 15 years old. She is very shy and very beautiful. A calico with diluted marking of grey, tan on white; this is our chubby cat. I love to snuggle her.

Syenna, a grey tabby has decided that my bookworm is her girl. She will let my bookworm do anything including dressing her up, pushing her in a baby buggy. She is often seen tucked in with a blanket (handkerchief) a small stuffed toy and crown on her head. She also gives great kitty kisses.

Tiggertoo is our Swiss kitty. I found him by the railroad tracks and brought him home so he wouldn't be hurt. He is such a bully boy. He is now 18 months old and still growing. He is huge! He gets into everything and chases our poor old geriatric cats. You can see his picture on my profile page.

They just got out of the 6 month quarantine required by British law. We would travel to see them every Saturday. It was a drive of almost an hour but it was worth it. We got to sit with our cats and reassure them we are still there for them.

My hb got a promotion and is now the IT manager for all of Europe, China and India in his company. He travels quite abit but it is mostly in Germany, Italy and Great Britain.

My bookworm is now 10 years old. She loves to read and is in the highest reading level at her school.

I'm still writing picture book manuscripts and hope to be a published author one day.

The British health system, NHS=National Health Service sucks! It's free medical care but please don't have a problem that needs a specialist. 26 weeks is the average wait for an appointment. I saw my family doctor in the beginning of October and was referred to a Rheumatologist, Neurologist and ENT. My appt for the Rheumatologist is in April of this year. I have seen the ENT but haven't heard a word from the Neurologist. UGH!

It's also hard to get prescription. Some of the medicines I've been taking to control a neurological decease called Spinal Cerebellar Ataxia they won't give me until I see the Neuro doc. I'm out of my meds, I have a very bad tremor, muscle spasms and pain.

I also have a type of Rheumatoid Arthritis called Ankolosing Spondylitis. It affects my spine, hips, shoulder, ribs and feet. It is quite painful. This typs of RA affect the muscles and bone. I’ve got damage to my two lowest vertebrae. This RA causes the bone to grow and fuses together in the spine. My back and neck are very stiff and unstable. I was told not to tilt my head back as it could cause spinal damage. Thankfully, I was able to get my medicines prescribed to me for this disorder.

Anyway, I'm enjoying Scotland. The people are friendly and the county is beautiful. If you would like to see the village I live in try this link.

Our house is directly across from the silver car. If you look at the picture of the seafront and tollhouse our house is the second gate. The village has been here for a very long time. It's very quaint.

That’s about all I have to give in this update.

Smiles, Char.mike
