Hi badragon,
Yes, I still miss my furbabies. Thankfully, I still have four to keep me busy. I'm glad you have two to help ease the pain of losing Destiny.

Moving long distances is hard wherever you are. I'm still waiting for summer here. I think we reached a high of 65 a few times so far. No sun bathing beauties here! Burrrr!

Always glad to hear from a fellow writer. :O)

Magpie,
Thanks, losing a cat is hard.
I bet your 11 month old keeps you busy. It's amazing how much energy they have.
What type of writing do you do?

I am sorry about your kitties. We lost Destiny a couple years ago but got a Russian Blue and a Siamese from different rescue agencies. Then we moved to the Southern part of the USA from the north. It is quite different and I am still adjusting. The weather is a lot warmer and that helps my arthritis. I write and publish poetry. Seems we have a bit in common. Be Happy

Hi Dusty,
I believe I live a bit further south than your friend. I'm right on the Firth of Forth. (KY1 4SN)

I'm so glad someone else know what I mean about the cold. BURRR!

Your story about the ice is so true but it's not just England it's that way in most of Europe. They just don't do ice. They don't do ice tea either. :O(

It was extremely rude of the lady to make the gestures. That was wrong! You should have made a complaint after your meal.

The Scots don't like the British at all but so far haven't seemed to mind us. Keep your fingers crossed they keep liking us. Living up or living down some of the American stereotypes is a killer!

Have a great day!

Hi Gael,
Adventures? You bet! It's very exciting to be able to travel and live in other countries.

More adventures are headed my way this summer.

We'll be headed up into Aberdeen and over to Norway by ferry. Summer break is so much fun since there are so many different countries within a few hours to visit.

Have a great day!

Hi,

I was able to make an appt with my GP (had to wait 2 weeks to get in!) and bless him he gave me the scripts I needed even though the NHS is going to fuss at him. He said he had broad shoulders and could see I needed the med and since I'd been on it so long he couldn't see why we should change it. WhoHoo, Dr. Guy ROCKS!

Have a great day!

Hi, Yes I've read it's the NHS in Scotland and England are handled very different. Here you see you GP who refers you to the specialist. About 2 weeks later you will receive a letter from the hospital/clinic saying you been referred to see a spec and will be sent a letter with instructions to call the central booking to schedule your appt. This letter will arrive about 6 weeks before the actual appt date and you have 2 weeks to respond. General waiting time to receive this letter is 26 weeks. UGH!

Thanks for the invite to Birmingham but it's a bit too far for me to travel. :O)

Have a great day!

My best friend lives in Scotland--in Inverarity (Angus, Scotland DD8 1XN). I've been over twice and you're right, the scenery is gorgeous but the climate is cold. I was there in both June and July and nearly froze to death. I'm from TN, though, and not used to such cold climes.

Yes, the North Sea can turn you into a popsicle!

My friend has fibro and getting to see a doctor is a herculean task. Even at death's door, you're not treated very well.

Having visited both Scotland and England (for 6 weeks one time and two months the next), I've seen first hand what the English think of the Scots AND the American's. :)

I think I was insulted when we were in an English pub. I'd ordered a Coke with ice. They brought me one tiny piece of ice and a Coke. I asked if I could please have more ice? I was brought one more piece of ice. Two pieces of ice in one glass. I asked if I could have a glass full of ice? The girl looked at me as if I was crazy. The owner of the pub was sitting on a tall stool at the bar and she took her index finger, put it to the side of her head and made circles with it (indicating I was nuts), and told the girl I was American.

I almost stood up and shouted "PROUD OF IT TOO," but hey, I was in a foreign country and kept all thoughts to myself.

I know our little neck of the woods would never treat a foreign visitor so rudely.

I look forward to reading more of your reviews.

Gruetzi -- oh, guess you are in Scotland now, ha ha.

Sounds like you have had a series of great adventures! Thanks for updating us and I'll look forward to your hotel review soon. Maybe you can write it while you're down at the pub having a pint!

The NHS... (Reply to this comment)
by captaind
... NHS=National Health Service sucks! It's free medical care but please don't have a problem that needs a specialist. 26 weeks is the average wait for an appointment. I saw my family doctor in the beginning of October and was referred to a Rheumatologist, Neurologist and ENT. My appt for the Rheumatologist is in April of this year. I have seen the ENT but haven't heard a word from the Neurologist. UGH

Hmm... don't kniow if it's different in Scotland, what with devolution and all, but in England specialists have to see patients within 13 weeks of receipt of the referral from GP / whoever. Mind you Choose and Book is the most stupid of stupid ideas adn is playing merry hell with teh system, especially when CAB referalls are marked as Urgent.

I work in Neurology so if you have any tourble and don't mind travelling to Birmignham!! :-D First appointments aren't a great problem though, it's the follow ups we're booked solid with until about August...
