Hehe, yeah, it wasn't quite what we expected, but it was a fun time anyway. And if it weren't for the weather, the crowd might have been quite a bit bigger, so it might have seemed more like we were getting the extra bang for our buck with our close seats and meet and greet. We did get what we paid for in that regard, so I can't really complain too much, lest I feel like the grumblers in that parable who've been working all day and are annoyed the latecomers got the same wage... Anyhoo, glad you enjoyed the write-up!

Gosh what a bust! (Reply to this comment)

Although it sounds as if the "star" was quite the gentleman, and sang you 8 nice songs, the "concert" was definitely not as advertized. Some folks would be hot. It was also gracious of you and your friend to be content with what you got, as compared to what you paid for and expected. You're nice folks.
Regionally, we have a "contest" set-up in an old theater where a limited number of contestants are allowed to compete once every three months (I believe it is now - it used to be monthly), and there is a $10 charge. However, before the contest, and while the judges are toting up their scores, the audience is entertained by professionals (maybe not Idol winners, but people who have recorded in Nashville and are certainly very talented and beloved), so the $10 ticket is a bargain. And people know what to expect. This sounds like a $10 ticket would have been a more fair price, BUT you did have a rather "intimate" evening with Rickey, and perhaps Chelsea, too, will turn out to be a star one day, and you can say you heard her "when"!
Enjoyed reading of your experience anyway! :-)
