Victim of Circumstances

We are all victims of circumstances in one way or another.
Epinions has given me the opportunity to express myself and my true feelings. Although, my opinions and feelings are rated - it helps to be able to share experiences, knowledge and feelings with others.
I've decided to make some points about different personal experiences that have related to me in one way or another.
Victim of Birth
I lived a very mixed-up childhood. Although, i remember most of it as happy - my teen years (or at least my teen years at home) were not happy. My parents got divorced due to my father being an abusive alcoholic. It wasn't until than that i found out he wasn't even my biological father. My mom wouldn't tell me; who my real dad was. She made up a story. She also would tell me - that i was ungrateful and that she didn't have to have kept me. (In other words - she could have aborted me)
Those words stuck like glue. I felt like i wasn't loved. As a result, i got into alot of trouble as a teen. (Possibly looking for attention?)
Victim of Domestic Violence
I met a guy in January of 1990; whom asked me to marry him two days after we met) Yeah - i know what your thinking. STUPID!! We waited till June and got married. I should have know better; when just a few days before my wedding he stayed out all night with another woman. I fell for the "I needed to make sure of how i felt" and "I'm so sorry!"
Well, there were lots of things i found out about him after we married. I found out he was a big drug user, was lazy, had a prison record, had two kids he had nothing to do with, etc. Needless to say - he abused me both physically and mentally. He threatened my life in many ways - and everytime i tried leaving him - he'd make worse threats. I was scared to be away from him more than with him. At least with him - i knew what was going on. I'm lucky to be here today and out of that mess.
Victim of Bad Choices
Wow - i could write alot about bad choices. We all make those! One of those bad choices is listed above. We grow from our experiences though and move on.
Another bad choice of mine is my eating habits. I have allowed myself to eat poorly (although the food is great!) and as a result now weight 300 lbs. I remember in high school taking diet pills with my friends because at 110 lbs we all thought we were so fat. What i would do to be 110lbs again!
They say that we don't think before we act. Although, we make that bad choice - we aim for that immediate reward of satisfaction at that moment. "Oh, just one more glazed donut" or "one cookie won't hurt". In the meantime, the scale tell you something else days later.
Victim of Circumstances
We have all been a victim of something in one way or another. My purpose of writing this was to express honesty in myself of past experiences, share them with others and maybe somebody else out there who has experienced some of the same things - may feel more relaxed to open up and talk to somebody about things they have kept bottled up inside.
Of the above topics - i no longer feel like a victim. I am a survivor and have grown and matured from all of my life experiences. I live day to day and enjoy life. I am married to a wonderful guy of 8 years and we are in the process of adopting kids to complete our family.
I hope you enjoyed reading something personal about me and i hope i made some positive impact on somebody out there.
