I agree with your hesitancy. My practice has been to find a pair of shoes I like by visiting a good sport shoe store (or, failing that, Fleet Feet or some other mall retailer). Once I find one I like, I buy the next few pairs from Roadrunner until they stop making the model. This works well with Asics (one of my preferred brands) 'cause they don't change often; it wouldn't work with Nike since they come out with new models every season. But, then, I think Nike's more into fashion than into sports, anyway.

Thanks for the comments -- keep on running!

or maybe I'm just old fashioned. Great review, and I have checked out the site- you're right, it's pretty cluttered. I have some difficulty finding the right running shoes; I run almost daily, but am 225 lbs and need the "right" shoe to support my weight. I just can't bring myself to order a pair of shoes online (or in a catalog); I prefer the ability to try on a couple pairs and see which ones feel best. Thanks for the insight.

If dad's bought from RRS before, he probably already knows about the website, but go ahead.

Perhaps the best thing about ordering here via the internet is the flat shipping fee. If you order by phone/fax, etc. you can get up to $15.99 in shipping charges -- paying an extra $3.99 to ship a pair of socks never floated my boat -- but online the whole order goes for one price. Since shipping can eat up any savings pretty quickly, this is potentially a great deal.

Thanks for the visit...

ummmm, shoe width, Cindy...

Especially if you're OK with looking through the sale racks, you can get some pretty good bargains. On kid's shoes, though, they have a pretty limited selection -- they're real running shoes instead of "tenny-runners," and thus get pretty pricey.

Thanks for the visit.

I'd know just what to expect after reading your review. I'll have to pass on the news that they have a website to my father (that actually athletic one in the family). Thanks for a great review. :)

Rex, thanks a million! I have a houseful of people with hard-to-fit feet. Couple that with my near-pathological aversion to shopping in malls, and you can imagine how panicked I become when one of the boys outgrows a pair of shoes. I just bookmarked this site, and have every intention of using it on a regular basis!

One thing, though, bothered me just a little. You wrote:

"...fill in your gender, size, and width,..."

Now, I am probably less vain than most women, but still, I absolutely refuse to tell anyone my width, even a poor slob who works in front of a VDT in California. I'd rather tell my real age...
