When my wife and I were newly married she purchased an inexpensive tool set for me for the holidays. At the time I thought it was the great set of tools that ever existed but I have been now for more than 18 years and I know quality craftsmanship. Needless to say those tools are slowly but surely rusting through, breaking, or stripping where they should not and so I replace them when I need to use that particular tool for a project.
For Father’s Day this year the boys redid my garage. Those old rusty tools look kind of pathetic on the nice new walls so whenever I am at Sears I pick up a tool or two. On my last trip I purchased the Craftsman 1-1/4 Inch Combination Wrench for roughly $32.00 and some change. Their wrenches are forged from alloy steel and tempered for maximum strength. All of Craftsman’s wrenches are heat treated so that there is a uniform hardness. Each one of them is plated with nickel so that it doesn’t rust or oxidize.
The Craftsman 1-1/4 Inch Combination Wrench that I purchased is a 12 point standard combination wrench. A combination wrench is a double ended tool with one side having an open-ended wrench and the other side having a box-end wrench on it but both of the ends will fit the same size bolt. The twelve point design is supposed to displace the stress to avoid getting rounded corners on fasteners. The Craftsman 1-1/4 Inch Combination Wrench weighs just shy of two pounds and is almost a foot and a half long.
I purchase certain Craftsman tools from Sears as a lifetime investment. If I save all of the receipts for certain tools that I have purchased over the years, I can pass these tools onto my sons. If one of them breaks they can return it and it will be replaced, no questions asked. All the Craftsman tools with this lifetime warranty are clearly marked.
