The first part of an entire NEW system! (Reply to this comment)
by marindavid
Been playing for over 40 years - found your review to be a more useful course than many I have self-taught myself. I appreciate it! More would be even better.
Thanks.

...Amazing. You put all time and energy into your review and the first comment you get is deragatory. I am consistantly amazed at the narrowminded people that occupy this site. This was by far the most detailed review I have read in all my years on this site. I appluad you for your efforts in making the world a happier place to hear.

Well, technically I did teach myself how to read it. I know which line is which and what the different symbols are (difference between a quarter note and hafl note, for example). However, as I never use it for how I play, it's painfully slow to use. I basically have to figure out each note one at a time. If I used it more, I'd be better at it, and if I were better at it, I'd probably use it more. Who knows... maybe that's what I'll play with next. Thanks for reading!

This is a nice system (Reply to this comment)

and the idea of using one scale to learn all of them is an excellent one.
Still, with all the effort you put into this system, why not bite the bullet and learn how to read the melody line?

Thanks! It was a lot of fun to write, though it did take a lot of time reformatting to try to make it understandable. The topic is kinda complex and is really hard to talk about when I'm not sitting with the person in front of a piano. It took several 'drafts' before I felt that someone could understand what I was trying to convey. I appreciate your comments, and am open to any suggestions on how I might make it more understandable or approachable.

This is an instruction manual, not a review.
