Worked for me

Written: Dec 28 '09
The Bottom Line: It does work if you follow the instructions so I would recommend this product even if it can be pricey for those who have larger tanks.

At the beginning of my hobby, I really didn't know much about what medications are the best. From looking at all the online reviews I was reluctant to use this product. I had a bunch of these that I purchased some time back and when I got the outbreak of ick in my tank I decided what the heck why not use it. I followed the instructions as stated. Removed the carbon from my filter and it was also suggested on some sites to raise the temperature a bit. I raised it from 82 degrees F to 86 degress F. I did this during the night, I'd say about 8pm (by that time the pet stores were all closed.) I added 3 tablets as stated 1 tablet per 10 gallons. I do not have soft water so there was no dissolving required. What I did though was break the tablets in half and droped them in all areas, making sure the medication got around everywhere. The next day around 10:00am I looked at the fish and all of them had the ick almost gone. They do still have a few fading spots, but the fish do not look stressed or sick. Looks like the treatment worked, but now I'm treating with maracyn to stop secondary infections (the tablets say it stops secondary infections, but I like maracyn better.) BTW, in case you are wondering, I have a 29 gallon planted tank with 3 olos, several tetras (red eyes, glo lights, etc), 2 gouramis, a few cherry barbs and a few trumpet snails. So far I have no losses, so all is well. I would recommend this product, but it is a bit expensive if you have a rather large tank.
