Re: I'm the Mechanical Man? - I'm very sorry Ruby (Reply to this comment)

I'm sorry to say it does not ring any bells with me? The only song I could come up with is "Mr. Roboto" by Styx but that's not the one you want. It sounds like it could possibly be a Puck Rock or New Wave type of song which I know very little about, sorry.

I'm the Mechanical Man? (Reply to this comment)
by rubykay
I keep hearing a silly song in my head, but since I can't remember the title, you may have it on your list. The part I remember goes:

"I'm the mechanical man, I am made out of stainless steel.
Does anybody here know a robot girl who wants to meet the mechanical man?"

Google let me down, and I could find nothing! Can you tell me more about it?

Thanks,

Rubykay

Thanks very funny, I happened to have owed that single and 3 or 4 more by them that all bombed. Believe it or not I owned at one time all but about 5 singles on my list when my collection was over 60,000 records.

Thank you Ron. I hope that's not the case. Maybe people aren't as serious fans of novelty music than you or I. Normally I don't write pieces as long as yours, but I'm happy to make an exception in this case.

You did a great job on your entry, very different but still very interesting. I hope you are not the only one who ever turns in an entry?

I'm feeling much better Dave thanks for asking. I get a twinge of burning in my stomache from time to time but my surgeon says it the stitches on the inside causing that and I'll most likely have that for the rest of my life.

In your example "Dickie Goodman" put out a lot of records like that with comentary then a small piece of a song would play.

...I always used to like the songs that had a narrative story, and then interjected a line from a song. You probably mentioned a few of them in your list (I don't remember the song titles).

For example (which I made just made up) - "The Presidents Speak":

First up to the podium is President Gerald Ford. Oh, I'm sorry, he just tripped on his way up the steps. Now he's about to speak. (Then the song line from Britney Spears would play "Oops I Did It Again.")

Next up is President George Bush who is coming up to the podium. Mr. Bush, do you really think escalating the war in Iraq will ultimately bring peace in the region? (Then the Rascals song line would play "How Can I Be Sure, I Really Really Really Want To Know.")

Next up is President Bill Clinton. Mr. President, why did you have that affair with Monica Lewinsky? (Then you would hear the words from a Three Dog Night song "One is the Loneliest Number").

You get the idea. I always loved these type of songs. Maybe someone will bring them back.

I enjoyed reading your list, Ron. And I hope that you are feeling better.

The age of a song has no bearing, it can be one from the 1920's or one from last year. So thanks for your 2 additions. Can't believe I forgot about "Fat Bottomed Girls" as I owned that single at one time and if I am not mistaken "Bicycle" might have been the song on the flip side of that 45?

Sorry to hear of your hospital stay and health problems.

What with Len's insulin dependent diabetes, 3 heart surgeries, only 50% of him kidneys working, and about 20 other things the matter with him, and my working schedule is such a problem for me.

However, I would really like to join in. I so enjoyed your last one.

Hopefully I can come up with a few.

Hugs,
Susie.

I was not aware he had a version of that song as well. I can remember it being done by "Phil Harris" way back in the 1940's or 1950's. Not sure who did the song first of if it's even the same version?

only one I can think of that I like that you didn't name was Smoke Smoke Smoke that Cigarette, by Tex Williams. He was a pretty creative singer with a good jazz backing band.

That would be really cool if you could put something together in the future because it looks like I picked a bad subject to have a w/o on? I guess I will be lucky if I even get 10 takers, oh well that's what I get.

Anyway I am working on my next posting also concerning Music but not a w/o. I hope to have it posted by Sunday next week at the latest if I get the time to finish my research?

That's cool if you get a chance sometime, no rush, no pressure. If you ever do one that would be great but if you change your mind or can't find the time that's cool as well. Thanks for your comment Pat.

With Epinions' own "March Madness" in effect, and my work on a number of pieces at present, I'm sure I can think of fifty great novelty songs. It just might take me a while to post. I am kicking around the ideas, though.

I am also looking forward to 2 proposed/rumored to be Movies "Iron Man" with the original "Tony Stark" I hope and especially "Dr. Strange".

I think with all the computer and CG technology they could really do a great "Dr. Strange". I'm sure most of the scenes with the "Silver Surfer" who is also one of my all-time favorites is mostly CG? It also looks like "300" which I also want to see may be 75% CG as a lot of the previews make it look like a video game?

I would also like to see in real form not animated:

Captain America (old or new version either one) (Wartime Cap. or current day Cap. either would be fine with me)
The Avengers
Thor
S.H.I.E.L.D.
Sgt. Fury
Galatus (don't remember how it was spelled but he was a cool villain who ate entire planets and where SS got his start)

just to name a few of many I would love to be made into Movies.

Yeah buddy.. while we disagree on this film, as a whole, we do agree that "Eva Mendes” rocks the eye sockets.. she is a delight portion of eye candy.

Speaking of “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer”, they found the one way that I would highly anticipate another FF movie, and that by including The Silver Surfer, one of my all time favorate marvel characters. I love the way he looks but even more the philosophical rants that he delivers.

You are very welcome and even though I totally disagreed with your assessment of "Ghost Rider" I still enjoyed reading your point of view anyway.

I would give it 4 or even 4 1/2 stars myself as I was thoroughly entertained. I am also a big fan of "Nick Cage" and “Sam Elliott” both as well as a big fan of Comics into Movies as well. I'm sure those 2 factors as well as that totally Hot living Doll "Eva Mendes” clouded my judgement a little bit but that's just me.

I’m really looking forward to seeing “Spider-Man 3” and “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer”.

by JAGUARDOG
You just gave me a great idea Jordan that I will incorporate into this posting with your permission of course? I totally forgot all about “Dead Skunk (In The Middle of The Road” and the artist himself "Loudon Wainwright III". This song would definitely be on my list and in my top 20 at least.

I’m not sure what “IWIWAL (I wish I was a lesbian)” or “I Am The Way” means were they songs as well? If so I don’t believe I ever heard either one of them? Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment old friend.
