SOME FREQUENT WORDS AND BEHAVIOR IN CHILDREN'S SHOWS THAT ARE STRANGE
Mar 09 '07
The Bottom Line I need to know if this word and the behavior bothers other people as much as it bothers me.
I have always liked to be with my young ones while they watch a DVD or a movie meant for children. I think it makes for easy conversation, afterwards. Still, I think I am either (1) too old for today's language or (2) very uptight!
I really do not like the word "fart'. I don't like the way it sounds and I really think it is very inappropriate to DO it on purpose! I see program after program, meant for small children that, these days, include some supposedly 'funny' part about people farting for fun. I do not get the humor of this, and I really do not think it is a great thing to teach our young children, at all!
When my husband watches a show such as "South Park" I expect that to be on the agenda. That is the type of show that is MEANT to be strangely funny in a way my husband can appreciate, at least.
My, otherwise, polite grandsons, seem to have picked up this lingo and the behavior, thinking it must be funny.
I don't laugh. As long as their mother is laughing and talking about how funny the behavior is, and children's programs seem to back up how fuuny it is, I think I am out of luck.
Am I really the only person out here who thinks this is just terrible?
