If you've got any of the "red flags" or very bad vision, avoid LASIK. If not, you're probably ok.

Another red flag: the age of the person. (Reply to this comment)

If you're an older person and get this procedure done, you're still going to need reading glasses. You have to decide if the expense of having it done is worth not having your eye problems totally corrected.

I'm so sorry to hear that you're still having problems so many years later. I also had surgery two years ago but my issues cleared up pretty quickly and I'm very happy with the results. I'm sorry your issues haven't cleared up. Thanks for sharing your story.

....you should have definitely went with your gut reaction! Sorry Lasik didn't work out for you :-(

I had mine almost two years ago and do still have occasional dryness. But it doesn't affect my vision in a negative way at least. As long as I keep my drops with me, I'm fine. And winter is worse than summer....I guess because of the dry air or something.

Still, after wearing contacts for almost 20 years, I'd rather use my eye drops a few times a day (my eyes are driest in the morning when I wake up) as it's a small price to pay to not have to wear contacts or glasses anymore!

Thanks for sharing your experience as it may help someone else avoid bad side effects if dryness is a problem pre-op. I know my surgeon was very thorough with the pre-op work-up and made sure I had realistic expectations going in.

Good luck and thanks again for posting these very important warning signs,

Melissa
