I came very close once. Back in 1991 I rode form Taos, NM to Torrance, CA in a single day, about 950 miles. My TOURING bike was a Kawasaki Vulcan 750, with a mediocre seat much improved by a buffalo skin cover, a throttle lock cruise control and a small, though well-shaped windshield.
Of course, being 24-years-old and in the best shape of my left didn't hurt either.

I wouldn't let this hinder you. I was talking about the far end of the motorcycle world. 1000 mile days is far from the norm of most all travelers - most folks don't consider traveling more than 300 miles a day in even the most comfortable luxury cars! I had been riding for many years before I slipped into this splinter group :)
Go ahead and do what feels good - you don't have to prove anything to anyone but yourself.

I had no idea riding a motorcycle could be that strenuous on your body. Maybe I should rethink my idea of getting one?
Thanks for the info!
