For the past three weeks I have been trying unsuccessfully to get a replacement phone for one that was broken mailed to Seattle Washington for my son. I ordered the new telephone on Jan. 1 -- and he still hasn't received it!!! When I ordered the phone I specifically stated that it should be delivered via UPS to my son. Instead, Sprint spent two weeks trying to deliver it to me, the person who pays the bill. The only problem is that I live in California. So, I can't just wander down to UPS in Seattle and pick it up. After I realized what had happened I began what has been a daily 20-minute-long telephone call to the hell that Spring calls "customer service" to try to get them to deliver the telephone to the appropriate person. No luck, and I really can't understand what is so difficult about what I've requested. In the meantime, they're already placing a charge on my bill for a telephone that has never been mailed. When I finally decided in disgust that I just wanted to remove the second line from my phone, Sprint told me that I would have to pay a $170 early termination fee on my account. So, now I'm paying for both service and a new telephone that doesn't exist. One of their "customer service representatives" even chastised me for not having purchase a protection plan for the phone! This is even after I explained to them that 1) The other telephone had been destroyed; 2) I had called every day for three weeks to try to rectify the situation; 3) I had spent what has ended up being endless hours on the phone with their "customer service representatives." It's clear to me that the only thing their employees are there for is selling you things -- plans, minutes, devices -- but once you've purchased the merchandise they move on to selling something else to someone else. Oh, by the way, the reason my son needs a new phone is because he was in an abusive situation and the abuser destroyed his telephone. There should be a special place in Hades for Sprint customer service representatives -- after all, they're already in Barbados and the Philippines -- so why not? It's clear that Sprint has decided that they don't care about the quality of their customer service -- just send them your money and they're happy.
