| bossman52's Full Review: Arkansas Democrat Gazette |
The Arkansas Democrat Gazette is not your normal Arkansas Newspaper.
Number one: It is not utterly liberal. It is refreshingly Republican. Well to be honest it's fairly unbiassed, but in a solely Democrat State it if you are unbiassed you are considered Republican.
Number two: The IQ of the writer's is above the national average of 90. Thank goodness too, because I get so tired of reading the same ol' news about how some obscure person in a town that I've never heard of got food sickness at the local diner! I want news that matters to me. Something relevant. Something that is not redneck based. This paper has intelligence.
Number three: The Arkansas Democrat Gazette recently bought out Northwest Arkansas Times. This is good. Mainly because it elminates one more loser newspaper. This also means that the Democrat Gazette is much more loacalized to Northwest Arkansas. Northwest Arkansas is growing so fast, it would be hard for them not to cover us.
Number four: The Democrat Gazette's living section offers great information for people that are new in town or those who have lived here for a long period of time. They publish information on health, food, local organizations, and entertainment. Not only that, but they also publish information about local churches. This is refreshing to many in Northwest Arkansas considering how it is a rarity to hear anything about Church in national news.
Number five: The Business Section stands out above the rest in this newspaper. It offers tons of information about the national economic outlook. They also provide local profiles of businesses. These profiles give us information about where we should shop and eat, and are very informative.
Number six: The sports section covers all kinds of local sports. I am suprised at how well they cover all of the tiny High Schools in Arkansas, but they do well. They also provide a lot of good information about College teams including lineups and standings. Their Professional Sports information is also good. They give insights about players and teams that a lot of others don't.
The only real problem with the newspaper is how it is layed out. It is somewhat boring to look at, but for news junkies like me, this is fine.
