I ordered a discontinued model of a Toshiba laptop from PhotoAlley, and paid for rush delivery. The following day, having received the item from another vendor who had not guaranteed delivery, I called to cancel the order with PhotoAlley.
By the following day, however, PhotoAlley's hold on funds in my account remained. I called again reminding them that I had canceled the order and asking them not to ship the item. A few hours later, I received notice from PhotoAlley that the item had been shipped.
I left a note for the delivery man refusing delivery, and so the item was returned to PhotoAlley.
When I saw that PhotoAlley's charges to my account had gone through, I hit the roof. I called them again to complain, and they promised to refund my money within 24 hours. In fact, it took about three or four days before the refund, minus a restocking fee, appeared.
This is all probably acceptable business practice and, considering it was a rush order, not terribly unreasonable. However, it did make me angry that they were not willing/able to cancel the order immediately when I called them to do so. The result was frustration and wasted efforts by many people.
What product did you purchase or try to purchase? Toshiba laptop
