Ease of Use:
Pros:Large viewable area, and nice crisp color images
Cons:No driver CD with monitor.
The Bottom Line: Very nice performance, very nice price.
I purchased the NEC Multisync FE 700+ for a new PC that I had purchased for my wife at the same time. The Display that came with the PC was quite a bit more expensive and the sales staff at the location recommended the NEC as a lower cost alternative that delivered better performance.
This monitor is very nice....great color, flat screen, and very high refresh rate (85 Hz for 1024 X 768 pixels at true color settings).
With the current mail-in rebates offered the price of the monitor came out to $199.99.
The only drawback was that I had initially purchased the monitor to go with an HP Pavillion 7935 (which I returned...don't get me started on why...but I will never buy another PC from HP) and the monitor looked great...much better than the HP 15" that came with the system. But after I replaced the PC with a Sony VAIO....the settings were causing problems with display of some text boxes and I called NEC for some tech support. The input from tech support was less than helpful, he told me to install the correct drivers, which I would have to download, but I couldn't use my web browser due to the monitor problems.
Nevertheless, I rebooted the PC and the display settings returned to normal...and I have not had a problem since.
The unit comes with a panel on the front, below the viewable area that has adjustment buttons that are easy to use to optimize color, size and positioning of the display.
I am quite happy with the performance of this monitor. And for the price, I don't know of anything else out there that compares.
