My fiancé and I saw the relatively new Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust movie at an art theatre in downtown Philadelphia. Kyle often talks about the original Vampire Hunter D movie that was released in the mid-1980’s. I had never seen it and neither of us could ever find a copy of it to buy or rent. So, when we heard that another movie had been released we jumped at the chance to go see it on the big screen. Neither of us was disappointed.
A few days later I did a search on epinions thinking that I may want to review the movie and wanted to know if it was available in the database. The original movie was the first on the list of results and I decided to read a few of the member reviews on it. Much to my surprise, all those affiliate links at the bottom of the page that I usually don’t notice popped off the page to greet me. There were a number of places offering the video for sale and I since we could never find it before, I knew I couldn’t pass up the chance to get this as a Yule gift for Kyle.
Clicking on CD Universe, as opposed to EBay, Amazon or any of the other options was a simple decision. The price comparison showed CD Universe was offering the video significantly cheaper than anywhere else and I knew it would be a new copy.
When I clicked on the link, CD Universe brought me directly to a page that gives a short description of the movie. I liked that the availability and price were right at the top in plain site—I didn’t have to click through page after page to get to the bottom line. The page also clearly stated that this video was dubbed into English, but offered links to the subtitled version as well. In essence, all the information you need to make a purchase is right up front with CD Universe.
The actual transaction process was very simple and only took a minute or so to fill out my shipping and payment information. As with most sites, you create a password and login name (your real name, in this case) so that you can check on the status of your order at any time. I really didn’t need to use this function though, because CD Universe keep in touch with me every step of the way.
Almost immediately after placing my order, I received a confirmation email. Then, two to three days later, I received an email letting me know when the video would be shipped and how long it would take to reach me. I had opted for first class mail and since CD Universe is located in Connecticut I had figured on three to five days before I had the video. I was amazed when the video arrived two days later.
The video came safely packed in a bubble mailer with an invoice. Although the video itself wasn’t shrink wrapped, it was obvious that it was a new copy and it was exactly what I had ordered. Kyle is thrilled with it and I’m thrilled with CD Universe.
The company sells music and games in addition to movies and it seems their overall prices for ordering online are $5 to $10 cheaper than their larger, better known counterparts. In addition to lower prices, the turnaround time from CD Universe was a lot shorter than anything I’ve ever ordered from Amazon or CDNOW. I would definitely order from CD Universe again—particularly for harder to find items.
