Thank you! Yeah, I like Johnny and Edgar Winter too.

I don't know the other man you listed, I'll have to look him up.

A very good list (Reply to this comment)

That's a very good list and I would find it hard to fault it. of course it's always difficult culling such lists to the final 10. My list would only differ in that I'm sure I would have a specialist blues harp player like Sonny Terry in and I would probably swap Stevie Ray for Johnny Winter. But, hey that's just fine tuning (boom boom).

One of my alerts emails slipped through the cracks.

Fantastic list and I couldn't agree more with almost all the picks. There was one I didn't recognize but based on the folks I'd did recognize I'll be checking the unknown one out soon.

I actually saw Stevie Ray Vaughan at Tulane's relatively small McAllister Auditorium in 1983 or 1984, before he hit it big in the mainstream market. Some guy was handing out fliers before the show and told me 'this guy' sounds just like Hendrix. I thought 'yeah right' until he started in on 'Voodoo Child' and just about blew everyone away.

I just put the list in order of when they passed away earliest to latest.

I put SRV on the list because I think of blues when I think of him, he does a lot, while Hendrix, he is at the top of my rock guitar players, I consider him to be a rock guitarist, and someone who pushed the envelope on rock n roll. Of course you can't really separate the blues roots there, but I guess Hendrix isn't there for the same reason I didn't put Clapton or Page there. Definitely great blues players but better known for rock.

think I'd reverse your list and put Johnson at the top. Some good guitar players, though. But why no Hendrix? Stevie Ray Vaughn was not a pimple on his derierre, imho. JMTC

I got to see B.B. King live myself last year in April. I found it amazing that even at his age, he's able to put on one hell of a show. Excellent list man!

While it get's real tough to narrow it down to 10, these are "pretty close" to mine!

I will have to check Buddy Guy out, I don't have any discs by him, although I am sure I have several songs by him on my many blues compilaiton sets.

I realized I could probably do a list of female blues artists with Billie Holiday, etta james, koko taylor, susan tedeschi etc.!

Great list! (Reply to this comment)

But I would probably include Buddy Guy somewhere in this list. Ranking only ten is tough, though, with all the great blues artists out there.
