Casino Night Party for the Teens

The Bottom Line If you want to throw a party, the Casino Night is not as hard or complicated as you might think. Give this one a try.
We just did a casino party for my 17 year old. These are the invite 50 people kind of parties that those teens love to have. It was a huge success. Heres how we did it:
-Print up a short invitation on a word document and put in a graphic if you can. Put 4-6 on one page and then print those on the computer. Cut out and paste to the back of a card so the number and suit of the card show. My daughter told people to dress up. They had fun with that. Two people came in coat and tie (one was a light blue tux) and all the girls wore dresses or some other fancy top. They loved having the opportunity to do this.
-Borrow poker chips from friends & family or have your child ask their friends if they can borrow some. You need about 6-8 decks of cards and at least 4-5 card tables and chairs for 20 or so. We used all our card table chairs, our neighbors and our lawn chairs and then still borrowed 10 from our church.
-If you can get any felt overlays for the tables, it is even better. We had two, both for poker.
-Set up the tables with cards and chips on each. There is no money spent or chips to buy. This is just for fun. The kids would stand around and talk while other played everything from go fish to poker and Texas Hold Em. My son and husband were the dealers and dressed up in white shirts and bow ties (that they had).
-For decorations we went to a party supply store and bought some big playing cards to hang up, bought 9 balloons in red, black and white got them helium-filled, and hung streamers in red black and white.
-In the backyard, where all the tables were, we strung christmas lights and party lights along the fence and across the area as much as we could to light the playing areas a bit when it got dark. This made for a great atmosphere after dark. We also set up one of those portable bonfires (metal grated outdoor fireplaces) and put camp chairs around it. Later the kids sat around and one played guitar.
-For food, we did a red, black and white theme. I dipped pretzels in white almond bark (chocolate) and sprinkled with those chocolate sprinkles and red sugar. These were a huge hit. We also bought champagne flutes (plastic) and I served a punch in it (cranberry juice, cherry juice, pineapple juice and soda water) that kept us with the red theme. As each kid came in, I asked if they would like some punch and then I wrote their name on the plastic champagne glass. I made rice krispie treats (2 batches was not enough) and sprinkled red sugar on those. I also set out M&Ms and Pez (you wont believe how popular those were) as well as chips and dip. I also put out strawberries with a cream cheese & fluff dip. If you havent had this, you mix a jar of fluff with 8 oz of cream cheese. I also put out club crackers. The party was from 6:30 to 11 and at about 7:30, we brought home 2 pans of Panda Express Orange Chicken. We had used this before and it went FAST. They love it. We didnt need to serve cake, but we did. Most did not want it.
The clean up was not bad, but I made my daughter do it since I baked everything and spent the money.
This party was great fun for everyone and Im really glad we did it.
