Calling BS on Dick Forrey's post, what a liar. Look it up, Forrey actually apologized for this malicious and intentional slandar:
http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/target.asp
What a bunch of blatant lies. Target is not French owned, it's a publicly traded company on the NYSE, the vast majority American owned. Just an example of how outright racist some people are.
The fact that Forrey is a pathological liar, forged ficticious emails, and maliciously and intentionally slandered Target repeatedly is a testament to what a sleazebag this guy is. I'm surprised he actually issued an apology at all.

I felt the need to share... This comes from a cop pal of mine, so it just might be true. Please read the following and feel free to copy & paste and distribute to anyone.
I thought all of you might find this interesting & informative. I didn't have any idea that this was true (I just figured it was another forwarding email) until I contacted Target and the manager there verified this information. It is very sad and I hope you will take this to heart. I will NOT shop at another Target Store until their policies change. Hope you will do the same...
by Dick Forrey of the Vietnam Veterans Association.
Recently we asked the local TARGET store to be a proud sponsor of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall during our spring recognition event.
We received the following reply from the local TARGET management: "Veterans do not meet our area of giving. We only donate to the arts, social action groups, gay & lesbian causes, and education."
So I'm thinking, if the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and veterans in general do not meet their donation criteria, then something is really wrong at this TARGET store. We were not asking for thousands of dollars, not even hundreds, just a small sponsorship for a memorial remembrance.
As a follow-up, I e-mailed the TARGET U.S. corporate headquarters and their response was the same. That's their national policy.
Then I looked into the company further. They will not allow the Marines to collect for 'Toys for Tots' at any of their stores. And during the recent Iraq deployment, they would not allow families of employees (who were called up for active duty) to continue their insurance coverage while they were on military service. Then, as I dig further, TARGET is a FRENCH-owned corporation.
Now, I'm thinking again. If TARGET won't support American Veterans, then why should I (or my friends and family) support their stores by spending our hard earned American dollars only to have their profits sent to France. Without
the American Vets, where would France be today? (Speaking German).
Feel free to pass this along to whomever you want.
Sincerely,
Dick Forrey

Nothing screams stay away faster than bad customer service!
That's the truth. Thankfully I still have my local store to run around in and get my fix.

Glad you enjoyed it. The AOL discount is still in effect as of last week anyway. It's pretty convenient.
Thanks for reading.

I love the "worth-mentioning" part you threw in! I knew they offered gift registries, my best friend registered her wedding at Target, but it never even occured to me that the registry list could be available on their web page! Great news! I'm hoping to be looking for a registry within the next couple of years and already wanted to use Target, this confirms it! Oh, and the info about a discount for AOL members was really useful! Thanks so much!

LOL, having the 5 year old certainly does drive consumerism. Couldn't hurt to pick one up.

...the success or failure of an online dept. store is dependent upon the whims of a five-year-old, as I'm sure you weren't the only parent searching for that good toy bargain this year. Nonetheless, thanks for the *great* review and for bringing this online store to my attention. Of course, to order from it, I'll first need a five-year-old and...

This is a thorough and insightful review. One of the few recent reviews in this category that are worth reading.
