I always keep an "All Purpose Cleaner" on hand for mainly washing floors in my home. I was going to purchase a Mr. Clean product but noticed this Lysol to be on sale. They are both a good quality brand name, same size and serve the same purpose.
A little info about this cleaner –
Lysol products are manufactured by Reckitt Benckiser North America, Inc.
4 in 1 means:
1-Kills 99.9% of germs
2-Removes soap scum- around the tub and sink.
3-Cuts Grease in home products
4- Deodorizes
This cleaner comes in 2 sizes but the 40-oz size seems to be a better deal especially when they have a weekly sale at different stores. It comes in 5 different scents. I chose the Lavender Breeze, which is the color lavender/purple. Does it smell like lavender? Yes but the chemicals overpower the scent. I use 1/4 cup in a gallon of water.
As to the ingredients, both Mr. Clean and Lysol have 98.814% (M) and 99.66% (L) of undisclosed "other" ingredients. They both have no phosphates.
On the back of the bottle it has specific instructions for non-food disinfecting, sanitation and controlling mold & mildew.
How does this compare in General Cleaning?
I think they both work equally well for my use which consists of general cleaning. I didn’t purchase this product for the 4 in 1 claims. I do use individual products for specific cleaning tasks.
This product is a bit strong. Therefore, they list cautions on the back for eye and hands safety. If your hands are sensitive, the use of gloves is recommended or a good hand cleaning followed with a lotion.
How I use this cleaner –
My home has 2 floors so I keep one bottle downstairs and 1 bottle upstairs. I do like the orange scent for my kitchen and this one for the bathrooms. I generally use my bathroom sink with a ¼ cup of this solution to clean the bathroom floors that are tiled. I would not use this on wooden or waxed flooring. It cleans well without leaving streaks. When I’m done, it leaves my sink nice and clean. This eliminates the use of a pail.
I also use this to clean small items in my sink such as garbage can lids and anything small that needs a cleaning. For larger items such as miniblinds I use my bathtub but have to use more to dilute it in the tub. Afterwards, I get to clean my tub.
While I’m in the cleaning mood, I throw a few ounces in the toilet to leave the clean scent in the room longer. The scent usually wears off when the floor dries in a few hours but the toilet water will maintain the scent longer.
Both Mr. Clean and this Lysol work the same to me. I am a frugal shopper but I like to stick to name brands when purchasing an all purpose cleaner because I know it will clean, sanitize and work as claimed.
