Pros:Outstanding picture quality, No tapes needed, Light in weight, and incredible zoom range.

Cons:Importing footage can take a while and battery capacity isn't as long as I'd like.

The Bottom Line: I recommend getting the Panasonic SDR-H80 (60 GM) HD Camcorder. It operates well and is extremely user friendly.

The Panasonic SDR-H80 (60 GB) Hard Drive Camcorder has been a phenomenal piece of equipment for me for the past couple of years. This device simplifies filming and editing because it connects and streams footage directly to a computer and eliminates the need for tapes. Imagine, never having to worry about inserting tape after tape when shooting long or separate events. This also eliminates the necessity of stock pilling tapes, and finding space to store all of them! The camera has a built in 60GB hard-drive which has the storage capacity to hold up to 10 1/2 hours of recorded footage, and an optional memory card for expanded storage space.
The picture quality that this device delivers is AMAZING! It is difficult to fathom such a small camera giving such perfect picture quality. The quality is comparable to a full sized professional HD camera weighing 30-50 lbs, and this coming from a device weighing less that 5 lbs.
When editing, all you need to do is hook up the USB cable, turn the camera on, open your editing program, and wait a few seconds for an option to pop up and ask which clips you want to import. Then just select the clips you want, and the importing process takes about as long as the clips run.
If you want to make your own movie projects, film special events, or you just want a new toy to fiddle with that can offer outstanding picture quality, and is EASY TO USE...don't look anywhere else. This camera is a MUST HAVE!
