having been a techie and network engineer once, i have a tendency to spout stats hoping peole will get through the jargon
i like the idea of personally connecting with a product and relating to how it works with you and your suggestions help greatly

I have several outdoor products (sleeping bags, walking poles, etc.) that we bought not too long ago, but didn't know how to approach such a review. Maybe now I'll have the courage to try!
Cheers,

A very strong point about the cons. Some of those don't surface until a product has been used for a while. I realize you can go update the review, but I don't personally think you can open the package and start typing.

I'd also like to encourage more Epinions writers to think about CONS
That's a great point. A lot of the time with products that I really like, I will almost feel bad about providing cons or negatives about the product after I just gave it a glowing recommendation. However - it's really important information as the consumer surely wants to know the downsides, even if it really is a great product.

I'm especially like the way you pointed out HOW a writer can intelligently incorporate facts about a product. The feature list copied off a box or a web site is NOT Helpful, but discussing the features and how well they work or don't work *IS*.
I'd also like to encourage more Epinions writers to think about CONS, not just glowing praise or rehashed TV commercials. What's important to me as a reader is to know not just how great a product is, but what things might aggravate me if I bought it. Critical thinking, that's the name of the game.
See ya!
