I have a collection of old Macs that I enjoy trying to make into the dream machines I wish I had back in 1992. Half the fun is looking around for good deals on clean used Macintosh equipment that's gently handled and sold at a fair price; that's hard to do over the web.
Other World Computing has been around for a long time (pull out those old MacUser magazines and rip through the back to find the ads) and after my experience, I can see why.
As I upgraded two of my Mac's hard drives, I had the little 80 and 230 meg hard drives that I've pulled out of these machines that still work, but really are smaller than I want as a primary in my "dream machines". It seemed a waste to just throw them in the anti-static bag and let them sit on the shelf, so I decided to comb the web and surplus store around home for external SCSI enclosures to hold them.
Several online stores had them, but at $50-100 a crack, they were beyond this cheapskate's budget. A visit to OWC looked fruitful; used enclosures, great price ($10!) and they sounded as though they were good quality. Shipping costs were very reasonable and the enclosures arrived when promised and well-packed.
The enclosures were as advertised, in good condition and even with all the connecting cables in place. OWC gets a first look from me when I'm looking to get anything Mac.
