Let me XPlain

Pros:Stable foundation, good for games and new features.
Cons:Takes a lot of space on the hard drive.
The Bottom Line: If you already have Windows 98, I would not bother upgrading. However, if you are building a new computer and are deciding on an operating system, go for it.
I did have a difficult time installing it due to a motherboard incompatibility. I couldn't figure out why it wasn't installing properly, although after reading the error report, I had a hunch it was the motherboard. I called customer support for some help with my dilemma and about 45 minutes later I was talking to a person. The techie confirmed my hunch and explained exactly what I needed to do. He was very courteous and his advice was effective. I had to go download new drivers for my motherboard.
After updating the drivers the install went flawlessly. I like the way different users settings are saved and loaded upon signing on. My daughter likes to have different backgrounds and schemes for her desktop than I do so this works out very well. This however takes up even more of your C drive.
I happen to like the classic Win 98 look and feel because I am familiar with it, so I have the option of it or the new look of Windows.
I have been fortunate in finding appropriate drivers for all of my hardware. Some of them are specifically for XP, and some recommend using Win 2000 drivers.
