I actually discovered Anyknockoff.com on Epinions.com. I was reading and rating reviews in the Just In section when a review came in about Anyknockoff.com. It was a positive review that recommended the site. I was in the process of looking for a new purse, so I thought I would check out the site.
And I'll admit it, I'm a slave to fashion and I spend way too much money on trendy items. I currently carry a Kate Spade purse and it's now old/beaten-up and out-of-date. Of course, I've been dying for a Louis Vuitton or a Coach purse, but these brands are expensive so I've been holding out -- for what, I wasn't sure. (Win the lottery? Some dashing stranger to come up to me and hand me a beautiful brand new Prada?)
So when I found Anyknockoff.com, I thought I had found the answer to my current purse-needs.
Now I've seen a lot of fakes on the streets of Manhattan, in DC, and on South Street in Philadelphia. There are some good fakes out there and they looked good enough from the pictures on the site, so I placed and order.
Buying the purse
I bought a Gucci knock-off. The name of the purse is the "Fall Tall quilted shopper inspired by Gucci" and can still be seen on the website. It comes in black and tan, and I ordered it in black. The cost of the purse was $69 -- certainly more than a fake from the streets of New York, but still a lot cheaper than the real thing.
The good news: I ordered the purse and it came in the promised shipment time. The bad news: the purse doesn't really look like a Gucci. The fake Gucci logo is so faded, you can hardly see it up close. And the body of the purse is made of some sort of shoddy, cheap-feeling material. Overall, I was very disappointed in the quality of their product.
And after reading about another Epinionators experience with poor customer service involving a return, I'm not even going to bother trying to return my item.
Functionality and design of the site
I probably should have known what the quality of the purse would be from the quality of the website. The site design is poorly organized and slow. Their tables aren't lined up right, and products aren't well-organized -- you have to scroll through page after page to look at different items.
Also, from what it seems, they exaggerate the "original cost" of the item copied. For example, I found the heart-tag key chain "inspired by Tiffany" listed on their site. They claim it costs $150 at Tiffany's, when in fact, it costs $50. (The cost for the fake is $24.)
I was just so excited to order a fake at less of a cost than the original, that I think I overlooked these signs that the product probably wouldn't be of a decent quality. I would not recommend this site.
