When Napster went down the tubes, I think most of us knew there would be several replacements. Some easy to use..some not so easy. Before I used Napster, I used the IRC channels, via mIRC, to download mp3s. Although, this wasnt as easy to use as Napster, since it takes more time to find a song, has less users and tricky to use, I returned to mIRC since I was a veteran user. But, I really missed the ease of Napster and soon found myself looking for a similar program.

I, then found AudioGalaxy. This had the volume of people and songs..but I found it almost as cumbersome to use as mIRC. Once you choose a song to download..and decide to leave..this program holds the song and you find yourself downloading it when you return..whether you want it or not. You have to manually remove the choices.

They boast that by leaving their satellite open and running in your tray, you could download or resume your choice if someone logged in having your tune. Well, a friend of mine thought this was a fantastic option, until she downloaded a virus that caused her to have to reinstall her entire Windows operating system..and she lost every one of her other programs.

So, I began to think AudioGalaxy wasnt so hot, afterall, and continued on my quest for a Napster replacement. Well, I found one!! Kazaa!

It looks like Napster..it acts like Napster..one might think it IS Napster with a different name. It has the same way of searching, the same look to the downloading area..it has a nifty player so you can listen as you download as it is going and it has just about the same options. I am much more satisfied with Kazaa, than I am with AudioGalaxy. I use Audio only if after a few attempts, I cant find what I am looking for on Kazaa.
