Great Deal With Voicestream

Pros:Good Customer Service, Clear Digital Calls.
Cons:Cuts out sometimes, No analog roaming capabilities.
The Bottom Line: I recommend Voicestream WIreless to anyone who's planning to stay in Urban Areas, otherwise choose a different provider.

I have been using the Nokia 8260 with At&T Wireless for the past year and I have been very upset with their reception and their awful customer service. I decided to switch to Voicestream because of their steal of a deal that they offered: 2 Free Digital Nokia 3390 phone's with 800 Shared Anytime minutes with Free Calling between plan members, Unlimited Weekends, Roaming, and Nationwide Long Distance. This deal was too good to be true so I went over to a Voicestream Dealer and purchased it.

The Voicestream representative was very helpful and gave us as many chances as we wanted to choose an easy phone number (I am very picky about that). As soon as i got home, i started testing out the phone. For the most part, the phone works extremely well; it gets 4 bars of reception where at&t only gets 1 bar, and its so clear that people cannot even differentiate between a landline telephone. The only problem is that once in a while I do get dropped calls, and it is quite frustrating. This hasn't been a very big issue though and has only occurred 2 or 3 times in the past month.

I really love Voicestream's customer service. They are very helpful and do not hesitate to credit your account when there is a billing mistake on their behalf. They are very easy to deal with and that dealing with customer service has probably been the greatest thing about Voicestream so far.

The only problems that i have seen with Voicestream is once you hit most rural areas, your signal drops down to nothing and are not able to make or receive calls. Also, compared to AT&T, voicestream has a lot of work to do on their Voicemail system, as it is not the uniform one that most people are used to. I would recommend Voicestream to anyone who does not leave Urban areas much because they have the best clarity and offer the best plans. Although if you do travel outside Urban areas often, you might want to go with a different provider who offers Tri-Mode phones, as Voicestream does not provide analog roaming capabilities. I think this will not become a problem because Cingular wireless also operates on the GSM network, which allows you to roam on their towers. Some more good news is that AT&T Wireless has also launched a GSM/GPRS network. Within a few years, i believe that GSM coverage will increase dramatically with the presence of these new providers.
