Well gang, this is not really romance fiction, but it's about romance fiction. I've been a member of this site for, I don't know, a long time. Sometimes I post a lot, sometimes I post very little. Recently I was posting regularly and got a hat in Travel. And then I went on vacation to the Philippines and had my computer stolen with about 70 unposted reviews on it along with a whole bunch of other stuff, including a finished novel that I hadn't backed up to disk yet. I have a friend in Manila watching out for it, but it did take the wind out of my sails for writing reviews. Shortly after our return for the theft, I mean, vacation, my husband had surgery for testicular cancer. (Next time someone tells you national health won't work, give them my email. I have dates and numbers. Dennis' entire treatment from initial diagnosis to the last radiation session would have cost us 40 times more in the US, taken longer and required more fighting for care.) He's fine now by the way. The last radiation session is tomorrow and he'll be back at work next week. So what does all this have to do with romance? Well, Gather is running a contest for romance novels and I threw mine in the ring. In this round it's a popularity contest and the 20 entries with the most 10 votes will go on to post their second chapters. In the unofficial list, I'm ranked at 48th as of this morning. Voting closes on the 17th and I'm trying everything I can think of to get a few more votes. I know there's a few epinionators who are also Gatherites and I know there's a few people who are really supportive so I'm asking y'all for votes. I'm pretty confident that those who make it to the next round will be scrutinizd by publishers and agents so that's what I'm shooting for. I know my entry is at least as good as any of the current top 20, but I need more friends. It will only take a few moments of your time and could improve my life dramatically.
