The Bottom Line The Bottom line wants another set of these.
I couldn't find a listing for these sheets, so I will put my review here and move it when the product is listed. After my divorce I had to start from scratch where home furnishings were concerned. A trip to Bed, Bath and Beyond led me straight to their linen department. Basics like Sheets, Towels and so on were on top of my shopping list. I'm not the Laura Ashley type when it comes to my sheets. I've also outgrown cartoon characters (except Spongebob) and other cutesy designs. I wanted basic, good quality sheets and I wanted a color selection that went beyond the usual white, light-blue and pink. With the Sage sheets I found exactly what I was looking for. While these sheets are available in standard colors, they also come in Sage green, silvery gray (my choice) and a burgundy red. I would have picked the red, but it's not available in a Queen Size. I really don't like sheets that allow you to see the pattern of your mattress once you put them on. The Sage sheets have a 380-thread count, so no problem there. Thread count is determined by the number of threads per square inch. 380 threads is above regular department store quality, which typically ranges from about 200 - 300 threads. A thread count that high also guaranteed that these sheets would not wear out for quite some time. The queen size runs true to size. So no trying to stretch these sheets across my mattress and hoping one of the corners wouldn't pop off. The fitted sheet offers pockets that are a bit deeper than other sheets I have tried. Yet they are not extra deep, so if your mattress is very thick, these might not fit. I'm not sure if Sage markets these sheets with extra deep pockets or not, you'll have to check that. The top sheet is oversized, which is really nice. I tend to wrap the sheet around me (usually wake up in a tangled mess) and this sheet allows for that. There's also plenty there if two people sleep under it. Two pillow cases (standard size) were included in the set. While they are generous and allow for my goose-down pillows, they will not fit if your pillows are oversized. My sheets are solid colored, but have alternating 1/2-inch wide matte and glossy stripes. This makes the matte stripes appear a bit lighter than the glossy ones. The stitching on the sheets and the pillow case is very good. The pockets are triple-stitched, and I have yet to find a loose thread, even after repeated washing. The seams on the sheets and pillow cases are double stitched. All stitching is done with cotton thread. The sheets contain a small amount of Polyester (10%). I assume that's just to hold their shape and silky finish. They truly feel like 100% cotton sheets. They absorb moisture, are not clingy and there's no static build-up. Nothing worse than getting zapped by your sheets when you climb into bed. I've since bought another set of these in burgundy red. Neither the gray nor the burgundy have discolored (I wash them in warm water) and have not shrunk (dried using the permanent press). The burgundy sheets bled out just a little bit of color during the first washing, but after that they are fine. I've owned these sheets for almost 2 years now and they are still my favorites. I've since bought another set in the burgundy red. I change my sheets weekly and I figured they have undergone 30 - 40 washings. With each washing they become softer and more comfortable. I've no intentions of stop using them any time soon. With that high a thread count I shouldn't have to either. I found both sets on sale at Bed, Bath and Beyond for around $40.00, but the regular retail price for the Queen size is ca. $100.00. |
