I recently purchased a home theater receiver online. Rather than pay shipping and wait, I was happy to see that Sears.com gave me the option to pick it up at a local store. I received an order confirmation from the local store within about an hour, and had my merchandise within 5 minutes of walking in to pick it up.
On the other hand, I've had problems in the past (with the online appliance store in particular) with the site being down or the checkout pages being broken or having difficulty finding common items.
All in all, I'd rate Sears.com a mixed bag, although I do appreciate the flexibility of buying online without having to deal with their often less-than-stellar sales staff and picking things up at the local store.
