... our lists are very similar!! I hadn't actually looked at yours before posting mine, so it must be a case of great minds thinking alike! :-D

It must be. This isn't the first time we've agreed on movies.

Stephen does make a good point about foreign computer animated movies not getting around the worldwide market very much... to be honest, I can't think of one off the top of my head. Maybe I'll do a little searching, though I'm kind of hooked on anime at the moment which is Japanese, so I can claim some form of culture :-DD

I did like Spirited Away - I need to review it someday - but that one isn't computer animated.

You put "computer animated" in the title, which some might argue is redundant (though my momentarily missing that argues against that!).

I wasn't trying to be redundant in the title. I put computer animated movies in the title because I tend to put in the title what I am writing about - like book or movie titles.

What I think should be in the title is "American." This bothers me about many "best of" postings here as symptomatic of a deeper malaise.

Flushed Away, while released by Dreamsworks, was created by the company responsible for Wallace and Gromit, which is based in England, so my list isn't just American movies.

Certainly, what you say about the American ones you've seen is informative--and my examples weren't computer-animated (and are available with English-language dialogue).

This list is just for computer animated movies, like I said in my title. And I posted it in the section for the best computer animated movies. So I only put computer animated movies in this list.

When I get around to writing up a list for animated movies in general - not specifically computer animated - I am almost certain I will have Spirited Away on it. Possibly a few others made by that man - I can't remember his name at the moment - but I have to watch them first. Which is partly why I haven't done an animated movie list yet.

You should get out further and COULD even more easily add "American" to the title.

I've only seen 4 movies out of this list. That might change some time soon.

You have been slacking in your movie viewing ;)
Sure you are right about it changing in the future.

And millinocket will have to pull out all the stops to catch up to me. Hmmm, I think I'll go to the movies this weekend. LOL

Worried she is gonna catch up? ;)

a list can be helpful that does not consider Japanese anime such as "Grave of the Fireflies", "My Neighbor Totoro," et al. At least you could put "American" in the title!

I put in the title that these movies were simply the movies that I considered to be the best of the computer animated movies that I have seen. I did say in the review that the list was based only on the computer animated movies that I had personally seen up to the time when I wrote this. I haven't seen every computer animated movie, and I didn't mention the ones that I haven't seen or know anything about.

I love Chicken Run too. I just didn't mention it - or Wallace and Gromitt and the Curse of the Were-Rabbit - because they were done with clay instead of computers.

One film I loved watching was Chicken Run, about a collection of hens yearning to be free-range. It's brought to you by the same fellow who did the 'Wallace and Gromit' films, and is written on a level for both children and adults to enjoy -- it's full of little in-jokes and commentary that movie fans will get a good chuckle out of. -- Telynor

It's hard to beat Pixar - they turn out such great movies. Mininocket wants to see Ratatouille and it might even still be in the cheap theater, giving me a chance to poke a little hole in elvisdo's theater lead!

I love Pixar's movies. They have always been so good with strong stories, characters, and wonderful animation. You should take her if it is still in a theater there. It was such a good movie. And like you said, you'll get a bit closer to elvisdo. ;)

Gotta agree with Toy Story 1 and 2 and Finding Nemo, but how about The Cat Returns or other foreign ones?

I haven't seen The Cat Returns or other foreign made computer animated movies. The only foreign animated movie that I've seen was made with hand drawn animation.
