There is so much fun and money to be made if you proceed with caution on this auction site. Buying and selling can be a great experience if you take the time to research Ebay.
Ever wondered what happened to your favorite toy when you were little? Can't find it? I bet you can on Ebay. My first experience started out buying clothes. Then I decided to have fun. I remembered a toy that was taken off the shelves when I was little. They were called klick-klacks (sp?) Two glass balls that you would knock together and hopefully not knock your head off in the meantime. I thought, no way...they won't just happen to have these on Ebay right now. I Did a quick search and lo and behold - 3 items! The one in great condition sold for $27.00! At that very moment, I had wished I had not broken mine.
If you think there is nothing in your house that somebody else wants, you are mistaken. I have sold the ugliest, old items that I wanted to throw away. One's trash is another one's treasure! I think that is a good way to summarize my experience on Ebay. I have gone to real-life auctions and purchased items I have seen on Ebay for pennies, turned around and sold them for much more on Ebay.
If you have a unique craft that you have made, try sell one on Ebay. There are some happy homemakers that have turned their rare skills into a profitable business on Ebay. Stamp store owners who had a handful of customers come into their store now are selling old stock and racking up new customers every day. If you decide to make a business out of it, I would highly recommend purchasing a book or two written on Ebay, specifically "Ebay for Dummies."
Don't let your lack of computer experience stop you. I think Ebay without question is one of the top 10 websites in the world. Another thing I love about Ebay is that it saves history! I know that many worthwhile items would be thrown out and lost forever if not for your regular or fanatical consumer showing interest and making purchases on even the smallest of items.
The down side of Ebay from a shoppers standpoint is that it can become quite addictive. There are ALWAYS deals to be made and something interesting to buy, especially if you are a collector.
Take the time to read all that Ebay offers on it's own website as far as tips on purchasing/selling. There are a lot of scam artists out there and I would never purchase anything expensive from someone who has less than a 20 point rating.
