Tiger Direct attempted to defraud me by advertising one item, but shipped me a different item of lesser value. Tiger Direct then attempted to convince me that these items were really "all the same operating system".
Using Amazon.com, I purchased Windows 7 Professional (includes 32 & 64-bit versions) version FQC-00130 from TigerDirect for $149 plus 4.70 shipping. The following day I received this email from TigerDirect. "Dear Baron Woodward,In regard to your recent order: Z0615262, we would like to inform you that the Operating System you ordered is the OEM version and not the Retail version. It is the same operating system but what you will receive is the operating disc in an envelope instead of the retail box. We're sorry the detailed specs on our website did not include the specific version. We uploaded all the information as we received it from the manufacturer, and have now realized that the OEM specification was missing. The rest of the specs are correct, so if you were not looking for a specific OS version there's no action to be taken. On the other hand, if you would prefer to have the full retail version please refuse the shipment upon arrival. It will be returned to our warehouse for a full refund. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause, and we appreciate your business."
Please note where they say the "rest of the specs are correct" , as this is important. One version is entirely different from another version and are priced according, so all the different versions of Windows 7 cost anywhere from $79 -$300.
I contacted TigerDirect immediately and told them this substitution was not acceptable and asked what version they DID ship me and told them to cancel my order. They replied and told me the version they sent me instead is Windows 7 32bit OEM. That is fact what I received several days later, Windows 7 32bit OEM version FQC-00730. I contacted TigerDirect again and received this email (this is it in its entirety).
"UPS Returns Label Delivery This notice tells you that a UPS shipper has sent you an electronic UPS Returns Label. You can print and use this label to include in your outbound shipment, or send it to the consignee. The label will be available for 10 days.Note: When retrieving your UPS Returns Label below, we will provide you with both a UPS Returns Label and Commercial Invoice if the invoice was prepared by the original shipper.View UPS Returns Documentation InstructionsRetrieve Your UPS Returns Label .Get the Receipt.Find the Closest Service Location.Find Out More About Returning Your Shipment"
I filed an Amazon A-Z claim at this point since Tiger Direct is obviously not an ethical or trustworthy company. Amazon replied with:
"The seller of this listing has agreed to reimburse you upon receiving the return of the item. We would ask that you ship the return using the seller's UPS prepaid return label: If you require assistance with this label, the seller's phone is 888-999-3600.We would ask that you use a shipper that offers signature requirement as well as insuring the item to ensure its safe delivery. If the seller's return address is a PO Box, you will need to ship USPS. Please be sure to request signature confirmation and insurance for USPS shipments."
Needless to say, I won't be buying from any Amazon Marketplace seller ever again since Amazon is backing this fraudulent seller and Amazon is no longer providing adequate customer service or their A-Z guaranty. I filed a BBB complaint and an FTC complaint against Tiger Direct last week.
