Becoming A Much Better Father, Round 2 — Welcome to the World, Little Visdo
by elvisdo | Nov 04 '07
Baby Visdo is now teaching me to be a complete, well-rounded father. Why does he get to be the teacher?

Melissa,

***Congratulations to your entire family on your new arrival!

Thank you very much. I don't even think the kid will ever be a Commander. At the rate he's growing (15 lbs already in 6 weeks), he's ready to be Admiral.

There are no latecomers to this party. Thanks for the well wishes. Right now, we definitely need it and lots of sleep.

Dusty,

***I confess, I DO think of THE KING, Elvis Presley, when I see your name. :)

There's no way I'd get rich or even find a new identity when I take my maiden name back, but I'd be me again.

It's rather odd when you think about it. Or maybe not. Life can be a circle. I started out one person with my own (newborn) name and am returning to the roots of that same person/name. Who'uda thunk it? Certainly not me! :)

That was the originally intention with my moniker... it was all about Elvis. But somewhere down the line, it morphed into something else. I like having options now. It works to my advantage.

Majenta,

***Belated Congratulations--I've just come upon these glad tidings. Best wishes to all--hope the WHOLE family enjoyed Little Visdo's first Thanksgiving.

It was a good Thanksgiving since he slept through most of the festivities, and believe me when I say that in itself is a blessing.

Dus, Dusty, Dee,

***Dang...I misspell my own name and find it spelled this way on one of Shmoo's comments.

LOL. I did get a laugh out of it though....my Dad called me Dus, my youngest sister calls me Dee, and other people call me Sandy.

People are still trying to figure out whether my Eps name is Elvis-Do or El-Visdo. It's fun to make everyone sweat.

***I like the name Katherine so when I take my maiden name back after my divorce, I wonder if they'd let me change my first name also? It's worth checking out. :)

I want to change my identity as well, somebody famous so I'll accidentally get their paycheck.

You do realize what this means? The little tyke will become an expert in Superman lore.

Thanks for the well wishes.

But every party needs some gifts, so where did you hide the stash? What, you have money instead? Even better.

Jackie,

***Amazingly at this stages as busy as it can seems is very calm compared to the toddler years with a little boy (where I am at right now!) My 17 month old boy runs everywhere and explores everything! I don't have a chance to sit until nap time...Every stage is so wonderful and fun... so enjoy each for what it is... And for those postpartum days make sure you do lots of loving things for your wife. :)

Trust me, I know these are going to be the easy years compared to what's ahead, but it's definitely a joy to watch him discover new things. Plus, he's just too darn cute for words.

Kristina,

***1) You said Bij wasn't going to review a diaper pail, but what about one of these - http://www.epinions.com/reviews/The_Pee_Pee_Teepee ?

She is not even going anywhere near the subject whatsoever, unless it pays well.

***2) Where have I been? I had no clue there was a bun in the oven. Gawd, I feel so....so....useless.

Really? I'm feeling useless, too. I need to win or inherit millions of dollars to not feel useless.

***3) Is this our first, official, epi-baby?

I don't think so. I believe Mark (annexation) and Lacy beat us in that department.

***4) Whose ears does he have?

He has grandpa ears.

***5) Do you think he'll replace the Gerber baby soon?

I hope so. We need the money.

***Much love, affection, and well - a world's worth of beaming proudness...

A lifetime's worth is ahead of us. It's going to be great.

Wife to the Hybrid,

***...by so many things right now. The review, the kind, comments from everyone, losing ten pounds on the spot. Your little guy loves his Daddy, that's already obvious. It will be wonderful for him to read what you've written when he's old enough. I think the older offspring will get a lot out of reading your thoughts, too.

The little guy loves his mommy, too, especially when he's hungry. You beat me in that department.

***Be careful what you say, Dad Visdo, because my birthday is around the corner and I will take you up on your promise to get me chocolates and anything I want. ESPECIALLY if there is a sashimi meal involved in the mix.

But, but... isn't he your birthday present? LOL Fine, sashimi dinner it is.

***9 lbs. 8 oz made up for one heavy cloud, my dear. You did good & you are a wonderful father. :)

He is a BIG boy, but that's what makes him so fun.

Rae,

***It certainly is an adventure and a wonderful one at that. Ont thing about kids is they always manage to surprise you, and not always in a good way, but everyday you are glad to have them.

I want to see what surprises await this little guy. Okay, I really want to know what surprises are going to await me. I have a feeling they will be good ones. (crossing fingers)

Dusty,

***but congratulations on your new son.

I have two wonderfully, fantastic daughters but there is very special bond between a mother and her son...your son and his mother are on the journey of a lifetime. Enjoy the ride, Daddy! :-)

We're on a journey to sleeplessness and poopy diapers. Oh, and constant feeding. The boy has a hollow leg.

***Oh, and my son weighed in at 9lbs and 9ozs. He was a month early and while I thought he was rather large, another baby boy was born a few hours after him at 12lbs. {{{YIKES}}}

Another week and I think he would have been the same. Then my wife would have really cursed at me.
